So, I recently downloaded mapping software from these guys at fluid (www.dundjinni.com) - it's just insanely great.  But I immediately came away thinking: "If only we could get Denny to have his stuff talk to their stuff, we'd be in heaven."

Denny, try it out and think about it.  It wouldn't take much to cut and paste some of your awesome artwork into dundjinni, or release your own "art packs" which you could then sell.  And the 1 inch stuff you do, at least, sits on top of my large dundjinni maps quite nicely.  If I could only import some of your floor textures, I could make these awesome 2d/3d hodgepodges that would be INSANELY great.

Also, these guys are going to generate buzz - the ability for morons like me to make just amazing looking maps is incredible.  Tagging on for a little love might not be a bad idea.

Dundjinni looks like a great program. I've got so much going on right now that it might be hard to divert into this kind of project in the short term. I'll definitely give it some thought for a future project though. Thanks for the link

I've only poked at Dundjini's demo copy, and I was less favorable of it. I couldn't even get it to draw a simple dungeon (and I mean simple). I've had better luck with TSR's AD&D 2ed Core Rules CDs with their map programs. And I'm a software engineer!

But, asside from dissing a program I only spent 5 minutes with, I would comment that Dunjini seems focussed on replacing the flat-paper products, which is in competition with WWG in many ways. I'm not sure its a match for WWG.

Simply put, users run Dunjini to make flat maps to print out. These flat maps are better or as good as 0one and SkeletonKey's maps. And those two make products that compete with WWG. The form of competition being, do I want 3d or flat? The flat looks good, and it is easy to work with.

I agree that 2D is much less realistic than 3D, but as far as build time - print and put it on the table - a good 2D artwork system would be fast to get ready.
