I'm about 90% finished and it looks great! It will be a "ghost ship" for my players to hear about and finally board one day. At first I just wanted to see what it looked like so I printed a couple of bits out in B&W and it looked so good I did the whole thing! If I can post a pic I will. Maybe when I recover (man those masts are a pain!) I'll do another in color. I could do that while I wait for the Sci-fi set to come out... |

How did you do (are doing) the sails? In an earlier thread someone mentioned sails on transparencies for a ghost ship - did you try it? D |

Hey another Black and White Maiden! Mine was becalmed for a little while after I recovered from building the first colour version, but after watching Pirates of the Carribean again last week we are back on track. I tried a couple of things with transparencies, by themselves they are not strong enough and gluing them to panels of transparent acrylic sheet was way too time consuming and inflexible. Mixing transparencies and B&W paper just did not look good, transparent sails were OK but I think the standard sails printed B&W and then ripped look even better. With an undead pirate crew painted in shades of grey my version of The Black Pearl is getting ready to sail. Pictures coming soon. Steve |

The sails are in development, I'm going to use a cream colored silk gauze that my wife bought recently (she's a costumer) with some strategically placed tears. I'll be using a fairly invisible glue to hold the sails together along with the ratlines (same stuff). With a skeleton crew (if you'll pardon the pun) I think she'll look really great. Maybe the guys here at WW could set up an area for people to send in pics of thier creations? (hint, hint...) |

I posted pics of the maiden in B and W. The cloth sails I was planning did not work out. I've used the regular sails in B and W and they look fine though a bit too intact for my liking. I think I'll use a blowtorch to put some small holes in the sails and use a razor knife to shred them a bit too.
