Hey all, I hope this is the right forum for this question, but I wasn't quite sure. Basically, I'm looking for 28mm miniatures for a modern setting, things like SWAT officers in tactical gear, modern day street thugs, maybe modern soldiers. I've been really impressed by Wargames Foundry's Street Violence line, especcially as far as the cops go, but I was hoping you folks here might know a company that offers similar models at a more affordable price. I hope this isn't stepping on toes, but I figured it'd be okay as it wasn't regarding a competitor to WWG. |

While not the best quality figs on the market has very low prices on SWAT, Agent, Thug, Firemen, Zombie, and Civilian figures - $25 for twenty figs. Most of the sets have a fair number of duplicates, but both the Civilian and Zombie sets are twenty unique figures each. The Auld Grump |

As much as I hate recommending anything associated with The Evil Empire, I must recommend The Street Violence figure line for what you ask. It is plainly the best quality figure line for what you are asking for. http://www.wargamesfoundry.com/collections/SV/index.asp Sorry. |

May I inquire why you place Foundry and GW in the same association? Yes I understand that some of the artists are the same but...? Lord Abaddon of Wormwood |

Have you looked at who owns Foundry, oh man of GW moniker? I mean the British business records; not alleged public explanations to the Colonials on this side of the Pond. Might as well be the same company except GW is public and Foundry is private. This is only one example of GW's digits being in more than the apparent glove. |

I can really recommend the Armorcast figs (the old Tactical Minis) line - the street cops, DEA and hostages are great - I've got all them myself, just not got around to getting the SWAT or terrorists yet. Others to add to the list: SWAT minis: Theassaultgroup.com; Some painted examples (not mine, jacked from TAG) hope that helps some! |

Can't believe no ones mentioned Doug at EM4 minis: Goodies like these just shouldn't be passed up on for modern day settings, what with bikers, cops, blokes in suits and scantily dress ladies. |

Thanks for all of your suggestions guys, many interesting leads to look into here for sure. I must say I'm most impressed by The Assault Group's stuff, and they even have a range of Aztec warriors which suits my purposes as well, so thanks for that Cypher. I don't see many models for criminals that would suit my purposes, but since I'm mostly using heavily armed gunmen (from Cartels or other elite gangs) I might just use say, Russian paramilitaries and paint them in a generic enough way to make them suitable for many different roles. Probably best to do that for future games anyway! |

There are a few in Hasslefree's Adventurers range that might suit. HFA003 Grant would make a fearsome criminal. HFA023 Ken, a cop with a strong resemblance to Ving Rhames in Dawn Of The Dead, has a choice of either pistol and flashlight, or shotgun. Officer Nick and PC Sam Ford (HFA032 and HFA033) represent British police, or 'fuzz' ![]() Riot cop Neil, HFA034, is based on a friend of the sculptor, and comes with a choice of riot shield and baton, or riot gun. Baker, HFA036, a shifty looking type in a hooded top, looks suitably thuggish, and carries either a crowbar or a suppressed Mac 10. One of the most recent releases, HFA042 Frank Cisco, could be the sort of detective who carries a very big gun. |
