Very nice review and setup! I just got this set myself and have to agree. Its a difficult set, but thats part of the brilliance of it. Its not a model set so much a as a sandbox for all your forest needs. |

Thanks for the glowing review. Although for the record, branches glued to the simple trees will support plastic miniatures and even lighter metal ones just as readily as the complex trees. |

I will be using that method for future trees that I build. As for the review, I was honest. You should be proud. |

I realize that the Atlantis set has merging tiles and I don't know why I didn't think about the in relation to expandability. Feel free to post on the the site where the review is hosted (dargonavenue.com) |

Its amazing how much depth this set has. I can think of 1000 things you could do with it and still come up short of the true possibilities. Brilliantly executed. Definitely daunting for a new builder, though. May want to put an "Advanced" tag somewhere on it. ![]() |

What, specifically, is advanced about this set? I have only built a couple of trees and bushes from it and didn't think they were all that hard. The Complex tree was a time sink though, is that it? I haven't built any cliffs yet. |

Yeah, I don't think of this set as advanced. I love it mostly for the trees and textures. I'm working on some modular sets that'll be fun to put together. |

I belive that sometimes "advanced" is synonimous of too much things to do that I don't have idea where to begin...and the clifss are a bit in that categry..as you can build the as you want you have to know how to make them It's only an opinion |

You've got a point there. Its distinctly simpler to to have a fixed building like Thoumont's. The footprint sets take me at least twice as long to do because I spend so long trying to design a layout. Crafting the cliffs is a step above even that since you have to help design the pieces. To me the only set I've done that I would call advanced is Red Sector. All the tiny little bits for the mechs and the generator. Very time consuming and tricky to get a clean result. |

As I said in the review, the difficulty comes from the complex trees and the cliffs. The cliffs were more difficult for a few reasons: difficult to glue last piece on (I cut a whole in the bottom...) many cuts (the zig zag parts of the cliffs, etc) the design of cliffs I personally think that some sample cliffs would have been nice (and maybe could be a kitbash). |
