Trust me on this, this one is going to blow everybody’s mind away. At first, I have to say I was a bit reluctant when Denny asked me to complete the conversion to TLX. But somewhere along the way, something changed...

Let me just say that I am already planning on making a big board out of this one, to play just about any game I want to on. The textures are gorgeous. The eye to detail is extraordinary. And most of all, it oozes so much atmosphere. Let any other company make an overgrown city, and you end up with a lot of broken rocks and some plants. Let Denny and Matt have a go and you end up with something very magical. Long lost civilisations rediscovered, that sort of thing.

As I said, prepare to be blown away...

WHAT?!?! TLX? This just got put at the top of my list if I don't even have to bash it into my TLX builds. That really is upping the ante!

Yes, the conversion to TLX was the whole reason why it took so long. The set was almost done but had to be re-done more or less to fit the TLX system.

I don't think we're going to see any non-TLX releases anymore now, as long as they're not something like a props pack. Which, mind you, is a great and wonderful thing!

Now this is awesome. A ruined city?! Looks elvish by my standard...Maybe like the ancient city of "Myth, something or other" in the "something something, Realms"? Well, thats just what it reminds me of anyway. I think my other projects are about to go on hold!

Serisoult, it does have that ancient ruins feel to it. There are just no walls with parts missing yet. I am planning on doing these later on, but first, I am going to try and get the non-ruined version out.

Not the Return, but rather the three Sky Raiders adventures suggest some other adventures take place between them. Since the whole theme of my planned campaign is archaeology, having a ruined city would be perfect. Having an overgrown city would be the next best thing :wink:

We had a couple tweaks to make. Technically it was a small tweak until we realized that it was something which would need to be applied to a majority of walls

Had to do with how the top trim was handled visually, under TLX it wasn't as cut-and-dry as it was in the previous version.

They look like one pillar stacked on top of another (see the slits in the middle), supported by double high walls.

I can see how this gives support for the very high parts of the wall - just not sure what it will be like for people playing on that side of the table who have to look/reach over that extra height.

Do those high sections need all that extra (black) wall height be for support?
Or is TLX robust enough to support them if we cut away the surplus height and just use single pillars?

Yes, those ARE double-high pillars. The range has been expanded and now there’s not only the old 4-way pillars, but also 2-way, 3-way and all the angled versions. Idel for when you want to put a pillar on the edge or corner of a tile.

All the walls are supplied in 2 versions: one double-high version, with bits of cave on the top and 1 normal height version, without the cave texturing on the top, but with a nice contour shaped top end. You can use either version of them, or you could just throw them all together like I did in these promo shots.

Well, I like the ground tiles a lot, but I'm underwhelmed by the walls. Do all of the walls have a curved top? That alone seems to rule out multi-level setups with this set (unless of course if it's paired with wall from a different TLX set). I'm not sure what to make of the cave-topped double-high walls. Cave-topped? I assume this is something from Pathfinder, which is fine, but makes these walls difficult to use for a generic setting. It's also a little disappointing that the centerpiece of the second photo is a recolored tree from Hinterlands.

I was honestly expecting more from this set after all of these delays. It's definitely not sparking images of a "overgrown city".

Well, as far as I understood it, this is supposed to be an underground garden, hence the cave-top walls. The whole archway-curved-top-thingie ties in with LHotDK, which also had non-multiple-story-archs in it. That you simply don't put in places where you want another level on top but that look fantastic on single-level dungeon layouts.

This set seems to have the added benefit that you can, with the two-storey walls build a big cave that then has gazebo-like structures inside, free-standing, kind of.

I love what I'm seeing and can't wait for the set!

I am 'underwhelmed' as well ... but you can't tell what you can do until you really work with a set. The new photo layout does 'not' sell. I have a feeling the set will prove itself very useful, however.
