Anyone else having a problem downloading from Rapidshare? The Streets tiles posted earlier has been sitting at 99% done for a while now. Should I just try again?

Edit: no worries, just cancelled it and started over and this time no problems encountered

I have extracted the tiles from the Sewers planner and builit a new tile set including all Himmelveil tiles. They are grouped in five categories for ease of locating the different tiles. I also enlarged the tiles to make the 6X6 tiles 128X128 pixels. This makes the 3X3 and the 3X6 tiles work better with the grid. I also had to tweak the balcony tiles to make them fit right. I think I got it right but I would appreciate some feedback.

Going to have to wait a day or two for me....I can't get to Rapidshare from work (where I'll be until midnight) and tomorrow I have company over during the day so might not get round to it. The straight-up Streets tiles you already did look good though, can't wait to check out the new setup.

Um, not sure what you mean here....I had to unzip it at home and send the Himmelveil[1].set file to myself at work, but I can't get it to open. I saved it to the Tile System folder, I select Change Tileset and it's there, but when I open it nothing happens. What am I missing?

It worked for me once I put the .set file in the root of the Tileset app. Same folder the tileset.exe is located in. Place the Folder of images in that same location (but leave them in the folder).

Took me a while to figure it out. Sounds like others are having somewhat the same problem. Hopefully this helps?

Folder of images? Perhaps that is where I'm going wrong, I only have the .set file. No other folders. Must have missed something when I copied it into my email.....oh well, I'll check when I get home I guess. Or just wait and upload the improved version with sewers too

My "Himmelveil" folder of streets .png images is located in the folder "F:\Program Files\Tile System" and it contains 26 files at 2.58mb total file size. "Himmelveil_Tiles.set" is one of the 26 files.

And all 26 of those files (the .png ones and the .set one) are part of the zip file from Wonderboy? Maybe I should just start the whole process over....

Just an FYI for Denny - we need some additional GSD files for Robo Cutting. The second page of the signs has a slightly different form then the first and third pages. If I used the robo cutter for page two it would cut off the signs incorrectly.

Could Wonderboy maybe zip it all up in such a way that it just unzips correctly? Is that asking too much - yes/no?

Just unzip into your TileSystem folder, that creates Himmelveil.set and a Himmelveil folder with the png files

As far as I can tell the files are zipped in the correct way. The zip file has to be extracted into the TileSystem304 folder. To make sure that I had done it right, I downloaded the zip file from my link above saving the file in the TileSystem304 folder. I then right clicked on the zip file and told it to "Extract Here". This created a file named Himmelveil.set and a folder named Himmelveil (containing the .png files and additional .set files)in the TileSystem 304 folder. From there you must choose change tile set and choose the Himmelveil.set file. Depending on how the end user unzips my zip file, I can see how it might not work, but I have no control over that. TileSystem is not my app, I just found it, and I have no control over how it recognized file heirarchies.

One other tip to help in the use of TileSystem. If you select View - Tile Panel and then select Large Tiles and 2 Columns it makes it easier to see the tiles as well as the category headings.

I was surprised that I could get to it from work myself. Our firewall is usually pretty tight. Of course, now that I have used it it will probably be blocked next time I try.

Yeah, it's weird. For example, rpgnow is blocked but wargamevault is not, and since they share the same overall account I can download my rpgnow orders from there. Youtube is blocked but Hulu is not, etc - makes no sense. And obviously I can get to WWG

Finished my first tile with anchor points and LinX tabs, done in a fast-build fashion to test the set before going in assembly-line mode.

It requires more work than expected, due to the mounts tabs, the various semi-complex cutting of the textured tile with the folding flaps, gluing them together, adding anchor points.
But it looks GOOD. And when I tested the Linx with another almost finished tile, it looked BETTER.

So far, excellent.

Wait till you have the tile-spanning posts in addition to the LinX. Once those and the walls are in place, everything becomes rock solid.

Yeah, so far the tiles are a PAIN. I'm still having trouble getting them to come out ok. That said, the speed and ease of building for the walls and posts more than makes up for it. And once you have a bit to play with; damn if it isn't fun.

The tiles seem a bit fiddly at first, but once you make a few, it does get easier. Those double and quad sized posts really firm everything up. It really is amazing.

What's really amazing is how much time and effort the automated cutter saves! Wow! If you're going to make any serious builds (and I'm talking filling the table top), you really want to get one of these puppies.

Now if I could just figure out which of these several dozen moving boxes contains my glue, I'd be on my way to an amazing build!

The tiles are a little bit more work than box builds but VASTLY more useful in the end.

Besides...we've got something cooking which may make tile construction faster. More I cannot say right now

Free robo-cutters for everyone?

I can guess what he's got. It's probably a craft punch capable of punching through foamcore with the exact size of the tabs punched out. I've seen similar things when I worked at a graphics shop a while back.

I feel kind of stupid... I was yesterday driving home to my car and thinking how can I use the square foam cutted that I've for dragon-linx that never glued to a tile as I try to make a "removable" system...(with photo frames...an old post lost here I supose) ... and then I had a brillant idea... the most wonderfull of them that work perfect with your system...a way of put an take off tiles over the foam without need to glue it so you can have 30 foam bases and resue them to all the sets...

Then I arrived at home take one of your tiles to see if I could do it...and...and.. .welll my system work with your system as it's... as the tabs that go "inside" the foam where you put the piece that join...is the one that make the tile stay in place...So you don't have to glue it...only put over (dress the foam) and use the tabs to join to put in place...no movement...and see it quite well...

So for now I won't glue the tiles...only put over !! - one more thing that you can say you can do with your system (hope it's not that in the instructions as the I'll feel double stupid !!)

I took a photo with the mobile so it's not a good quality but you can see a frontal one (where you can see it look good) and a back one where you can see that they're not glued... I supose it can be done in the older set's just cutting the blank "Flaps" like the conector ... I've to try to make also an "end cap" for the ones that don't get joined with other...something like a T to put inside and make it don't move... well the pictures...

The idea sounds good at first, but I think you'll find there's advantages to just gluing it on. The whole point of the terrainlinx system is that you carry all these tiles where you need them, then just place them together with the tabs. Adding another step of having to stick on the actual artwork kind of defeats the point.

I see your point as it's a bit more of a job if you've to take it outside...but for me that usually play at home is no problem have it "dressed" before we start to play...and when it's over...I take it off and don't have to have a tons of tiles+foam... (not deciding still if it will be worth..but I'll give it a try for sure)
