WorldWorksGamesis gearing up to unleash a trilogy of releases for our long awaited fantasy city of Himmelveil. In open development for…far too long, the initial foray will focus on city infrastructure in the form of Streets, Sewers and Canals. These terrain locations function together as one cohesive whole.

Each of the above mentioned releases will showcase our newly designed terrain building system TerrainlinX. Over 2 years in the making, TerrainlinX promises to solve many problems inherent to the format and to make cardstock terrain more accessible, more attractive to a much broader audience. This represents our “dream” terrain system and we are extremely excited to share it with you!

We can’t do a full reveal of this new system until we are closer to launch day but here’s a few highlights:

release under a new format? are you actually going to have a printed product in stores? will it be precut and have optional glue less assembly?

Color me intrigued.

While we do have a "tangible" version of this same concept, the initial release wave is purely cardstock/download. Launching a tangible parellel is something we'd love to do but we need the right backing to make that happen.

Although this is still a build-yourself system we are currently incorporating Craftrobo compatibility so that users with that hardware can let the cutter do most of the work for them.

You just sold (me) one of these cutters!! Now to decide between the Craft Robo or the Silhouette SD. Time to start researching!!!

How back compatable will this be? Will it reqiure a lot of kitbashing? Will Himmierville (sp?) be in this formate or is it independent? OK I have a lot of questions. I can I wait...

100% Modular, standardized terrain system.... Craftrobo compatibility....

Make a standard dungeon terrain set, with textures on par with DungeonLinx (or even stolen directly from DungeonLinx), and you can make me a very happy person!

I have a strong feeling Denny and Co. will be kicking out a DungeonWorks TerrainLinX set sooner than one thinks.

My question is - what is this set? Is this a set in it's own right or is it a technology/method that will be adopted for the future sets?

Also on the above post - if SoH is using this system.... what percentage is the system and what is left to the actual set of SoH? What I am asking is - SoH is sitting at 50% (both sets) therefore what make up of the 50% is this system and what is pure SoH.

There's really no parallel I can use to describe how this system works compared to older concepts. Once you see what it is, you'll have a forehead slapping "why didn't someone do this before?" moment, or at least that's the hope.

So...compatibility with older systems will more likely be a question of what model sets from our past the community demands conversions on. Some will work brilliantly under the new standard, some won't. That said, there's no reason older sets can't occupy the same table space visually or dimensionally.



Its on the "hotlist". I've wanted to do "Dungeonworks Ultimate" for a very long time.



TerrainlinX is a system which most new model sets will adopt as the ongoing standard. Not to oversell the concept but I really believe that people will define WWG by what it did before and after TerrainlinX (Though it will take some time for the concept to sink in).



The "system" is largely complete other than some tail end post production and some small additions which will spill out over time (and likely additions based on user feedback). SOH1 & 2 are mostly wrapped from a raw texturing standpoint and are moving into closed beta soon. We are just now applying our texturing to the TerrainlinX system.

Neat - also DungeonWorks: The ReAwakening would be a better tile.

I think this would be a very good idea ASAP. (Maybe even better than Himmelveil...) You guys have come a long way on textures since Chunky Dungeons, and the 1.5"/1" conversion was a little awkward for my taste. Besides, most D&D players spend far more time in moldy cellars than they do on town streets.

Waiting patient !... vaiting patient !... well waiting for it sooner that latter !!

Hold your opinion for SOH1, SOH2 and SOH3...you might be surprised.

I'm definitely happy with street tiles, and all I play is D&D. Dungeons are fun, but outdoors/urban battles are definitely a unique twist and a nice relief from dungeon crawling/grinding. The second fight in Scales of War (outside the tavern) with the ogre pulling the cart full of firebomb chucking goblinoids is classic and a perfect use for this!

One question I have: why the name change from masterlinx to terrainlinx? Was that just the working name or are their other linx systems in progress for different applications?

Same system. MasterlinX didn't quite explain what this thing is all about, especially to those who may not know what we do here. One of the hopes here is that because of the standardization and reasonable simplicity of the system, that it will attract those who may have not have previously been interested in this type of terrain. I think once they see it in action they'll find it hard to avoid temptation.

what is the first (god I am tempting fate here) set that should be released using this system?

I have express that here and there when the post arise...but I belive that (now when the new system is out) you could make a "pack" of tiles adding new ones to the existing... I would love to see a few more street tiles without paper in it... or a few more "rooms" for fantasy and Mayhem... maybe one of tiles and other with walls... and the tiles should be plain and the a paper with "props" to paste over... the newspaper, a can, a blood stain...etc...

I've been converting Hinterland, Atlantis, and Swampwoods tiles to 6" for compatability with Castleworks. Is this going to be a solution to that type of situation and I'm really just wasting my own time because I'll be able to buy it from you guys as soon as it's released?

Don't hold your breath on old conversions. We've got a lot of work ahead of us with new sets coming online. So no, you aren't wasting your time though we may convert older sets when we can find a window to do so.

Hmmm, 75%.... Given that you are trying out a new system for linking I do not expect previews until right before release.

Yeah, unfortunately the whole system needs to be shown all-at-once and that requires that we have our first few releases lined up before the reveal. Its painful holding back but...well, I'm sure you can take a wild guess at why we have to do it this way.

I have a customer who uses WWG sci-fi terrain and we're both pretty excited to see the new terrain system.

I've been very pleased with the improvements to portability, ease of build and modularity from the transition away from Masterboard towards PaperLinx (Kanelinx style!), so if TerrainLinx is anything like that I'll be rolling around with glee.

Ok... I'm clueless. My wild guesses are:
1) You don't want competitors stealing your secret recipe
2) You might change the design at the last minute
3) You're waiting for the Lego design to hit public domain
4) You're breeding animals with velcro fur, and you don't want PETA on your back while the critters mature.

I'm certain you have better reasons than I am thinking of though (seriously, I'm drawing a blank, making me intensely curious about the reason).

fwiw - I can at least guess at the design:
6" squares with the sides of the square having 'inny' bits and 'outy' bits... allowing any side of a square to join with any side of another square, since they will present a reversed image of each other. Also, the 'inny' bits will be covered by a layer of paper, making it (and the 'outy' bits, when joined) invisible from the top view.

Sadly, WWG's biggest competitor seems to live off producing cheap and very blatant knock-offs of WWG's new releases.
Much as I'm keen to see what Denny and the crew are up to, I'm happy for them to hold off doing so until release, so their creativity gets the longest possible exposure in the market before anyone can parasitise off it.
