I've got the bulk of it done but my brain is completely fried. Its Sept 1st 3:42am PST and I've got nothing left in me to give.

I need to crash for a few short hours but after a few winks and a fresh cup-o-Joe, I'll knock out what remains in short order.

Its really close now (frustratingly so) but a morning to early afternoon launch is the best I can do gang.

Well ! I've just received a mail from "another" company !! Damm the copy is a few hours before the original...

I don't want to start a debate...only point a fact... But that's the last nail for that company to me...I've bought a few things in the past because they where

a) not in the WWG catalog
b) not even spoken in them

But I belive that from now I will save my money for Denny ! it's too damm "coincidence" - Not that it's the same system (it's the "cheaper" version) not the same textures (no close) ... but the references to Hand made not robot...and putting that 1 day before... Too much for me !

Well, we knew it was coming I guess....but their promo blurb makes me sick. Especially the bit you mention:

"All of the models featured in our promotional photos were built by hand, and no robotic cutting machines were employed in their construction. We feel this would create a false impression of what you can accomplish at home with the simple craft tools recommended in our model sets."

I think they have the wrong idea of what exactly the Craftrobo can do - all it does is take some of the steps that are a pain in the ass and automates them, and it's not as if you can't still cut out WWG stuff with scissors and a knife anyway. I don't have any of their stuff, and this just makes me less likely to consider it ever again. Plus the timing just REEKS

Marketing tactics can sometimes be cutthroat, I wouldn't really worry about it though. WWG has a serious following because they produce high quality products. As someone who's looked around at other companies that do this I can tell you that the quality is unparalleled at WWG.

Marketing can only do so much, if your product/brand is garbage then you're not going to sell too much.

New to this whole miniatures-based gaming. Only really started because I needed a way to show the kids where their guys were during combat. This new stuff just looks amazing!

If only I could persuade my wife that a robocutter would be a good idea. Better yet, I wonder if I could persuade my boss here at work. That might be easier...

Well, I'd hesitate to call it garbage (although I haven't seen any 'in the flesh') but looking more closely at it it's nowhere NEAR as flexible as Himmelveil - it looks like more Villageworks but on a raised road network (which would seem to be the primary element 'inspired' by TLX); the buildings are fixed in size even though there are mutliple varieties. I think Denny will blow the doors off with the massive flexibility of EVERY element on offer from TLX.

Also, toothpicks? Not a bad idea (imho), but I can see them rapidly shredding foamcore under heavy use.

As someone who has tried the toothpick method let me just say its INCREDIBLY imprecise and hard to line up. TerrainLinX is so much better.

From the instructions and the promotional shots there are two or three level high walls at the very back. I'm wondering how you accomplish this without having a floor layer in-between each level of wall with an anchor on it.

I was thinking this myself, but I suppose it could be something as simple as just gluing them together. It would not exactly fit the deign theme, as you would be stuck with tall walls, but if they store flat, you could have modular "large format" pieces.

Also, just looked closely at page 11 of the instructions...It looks like posts between each wall section, and you can see a tiny "gap" of filled texture between each vertical post, so I would say there is actually floor there. Also, if you look through the arch, the layout continues, so I think "real build" is more likely than my above guess.

From your first statement I can see where the problem lies: It shouldn't be "coffee in bloodstream." It should be "Too much blood in my caffeinestream."

Welcome back and we're looking forward to the new release.

While reading through the Instruction guide (you all did already download it didn't you?) It seems to me that a Dungeon Set would not (for the most part) need the LinX tabs. With the Center/Side/Corner posts inserted over the anchor points and the tabbed walls slotted everything will hold itself together.

That, by itself would cut the tile design time down even more.

Might be fun to retrofit some of the Gothic Realms and Castle Interiors and see what we see.

I do not encourage skipping the linx tabs. You need to keep in mind that the anchors have a very tiny glue area. With posts they would certainly hold the tiles in alignment left to themselves. But in actual play I would be afraid bumping would cause a lot of anchor tear off.

Should you really want skip the linx tabs I would suggest you use removable tape or removable poster tack to hold the tiles to the table top.

Clip-it walls you've already have built should be really easy to use with terrainlinx. The posts give a great point to clip to.

Is Thoumonts going to work with the new Himmelveil Terralinx system or will it have to sit on top as a loose item.

The outside tiles for Thoumonts are all 6x6. I don't see why this couldn't drop into a 2 tile by 2 tile spot? Seems to me it wouldn't even need a retro-fit so long as you use the "Grounds" tiles to surround the building.

I'll take a closer look... I've been a bonehead before and maybe I'm seeing it wrong.

Yep. I'm half a bonehead. The pdf page even says right on it - "Preview if the upcoming streets of HV model set"

Looks like it's a dropin. No modification needed, just plant it on those four tiles and drop it into your HV landscape. WOOOOOOOT. I am now printing Thoumont's! I was waiting to see how much work would be needed to make fit and it looks like NONE!

I actually posted this very situation earlier today in one of the other threads - as far as I can tell you can if you want actually fit Thoumonts on to a 9" x 12" footprint using TLX tiles (2 of the 3" x 6" ones and 2 of the 6" x 6" ones) which will give you less 'open/dead space' between the building and the road (looks like the roads all have a 'sidewalk' of 2" on either side, plenty of room for pedestrians). I'm looking seriously at printing it myself to go alongside whatever else I can come up with once TLX is released

Wonder if we'll get a patch with Terrainlinxed versions of the Thoumonts floor tiles to it can be attached to the rest of a setup and not just sitting freely in place.
