Either just trim the Thoumonts floortiles to the correct size and mount the building on a fixed piece of foamcore (but with all appropriate TLX spaces etc) or use TLX floortiles and use the Thoumonts tiles as a template purely for constructing the building itself.

Slightly confused here. Is TerrainlinX a seperate product or is it tied into new terrain products released from this point forward? (Yea I know the vid shows it, but I thought it was using Streets and Sewers as an example).

TerrainLinX is the system used by those two sets and by future sets. That way, you download one instruction book and your good to go.

Downloading Streets now.....still downloading...printed out the free sample ramp earlier, mounted for cutting, no cutting files in free sample (doh! ), done downloading! Now to open the cutting files and make a ramp.

I haven't purchased anything in a while, but man I have to get this.

I seldom play any rpg or miniature skermish except mmorpgs now a days but I think this system is great. I'm more a model builder and this have endless possibilities. Keep up the great ideas.

Okay, I also have a question, is the system designed for 1/4" fomecore or 3/16" foamcore? I've looked around Chicago, and all the 'quarter inch' foamcore is only 3/16" thick. It mamade building the Platform command terrain a bit of a pain, having to trim the side panels down after gluing them in place, and having to put a few layers of cardstock scrap to bulk up the foamcore inside the walkways to prevent it from being concave on the top when complete.

Oh, there it is, page 17, 1/4" cardstock, but 3/16" will work as well.

That'll teach me to try and think when half asleep.

Once i get the finances stabilized after getting the new house remodeled, I'll be picking this stuff up.

(Fixing up a RL house makes the cardstock terrain seem like nothing.)

The sad thing is that the company concerned can do some very good, very original work (I like their cave system, as an example - flexible, chunky, easy to build, and one of the few terrain sets where I was willing to not glue everything down into a permanent build) - they don't need to copy! They would be better served to produce their own material, not copy someone else.

I would be much happier if this segment of my hobby could get along and play nicely with each other, and several of the designers have shown that they can share the playground. I am willing to buy from several companies, folks undercutting each other undermines the whole hobby.

Does Terrainlinx have any support for double height walls?

Also, is there any way to have swappable interiors and exteriors? I'm thinking of modern buildings and worrying about flexibility and modularity with interior walls.

I wouldn't worry about it myself. TerrainLinx is not just swinging the pendulum in WWG's favour, it is shifting the whole damned mechanism firmly WWG's way.

The thing to do now is to get the word out about TerrainLinX out to everyone who wants gaming terrain and let them see the obvious value.

All walls are single height without a floor to stack them higher. Of course, you could always photoshop something higher.

As for interior/exterior, the way this is set up, you would need a dedicated set if interior on one side, exterior on the other walls for the edges of your modern buildings.

Nah, I was raised Catholic - we're supposed to worry about this sort of thing.

What I would really like to see is both companies doing their own thing, and making enough money at it.

While for me WWG has the edge, I like and buy a fair amount of the other company's material - I love his butt ugly space ship. (Butt Ugly is very much not an insult here - I will take an UBWH fighter over a Viper any day.) I also like his cave system. He doesn't need to copy! He does good work on his own! That annoys me more than if the copying was being done because he lacked the ability to be creative.

For me,at least, the two companies occupy parallel but separate niches - for some games I prefer the one, for other games the other wins out. It all depends on my needs of the moment, and I like having both options.

The Auld Grump, there are a few other companies that do some amazingly ugly cardboard spaceships. I am fond of swiveling engine nacelles.
