Denny, What is the dimentions of the promo castle in CWU flash? Also how many ink cartridges did you burn through making that? ![]() Last question and must unimportant one at that - what do you use to print on (off on)? What brand and type and cardstock type? Lord Abaddon of Wormwood (waiting and wanting both CWU and SW:FL but knowing that I can only do one at a time) |

It’s hard for me to give an exact measure of material usage because I burn through tons of supplies when developing sets. Items are made and remade during development. Hands down the best cardstock on the market for this kind of work is Georgia Pacific’s 110lb stock (Found in most “Staples” outlets). It maintains color clarity, image sharpness and is more than strong enough for the task at hand. I usually pick it up in the 250 sheet pack so that I’m setup for a good stretch of development time. In terms of ink usage I am a strong advocate of Ko-Rec-Type re-fill kits : http://www.korectype.com/index2.htm . I haven’t been using them long but I’ve already saved hundreds of dollars. If you are going to seriously get into building I STRONGLY suggest you invest in a re-fill kit. I’ve used and abused my Ko-Rec-Type kit for a couple months now and I still have ink left (and that’s saying something given the amount of ink I go through in development). |

Oh sorry...lol. The castle is about 5 by 3 feet. I meant to take a picture with me standing behind it for scale. Perhaps I should still do that. |

You know what would be a really cool addition to each set? The plans of the promo(s) that you do, ie, which pieces were used and how many of each (plus in a set like this, their configuration), how they are positioned, etc. It would be more work, but you could also add a few "sample builds", with the same information about each (pieces, amounts, config and placement) - in this set, for example, a small keep, a medium castle, and a large fortress. Obviously, with some sets (like the Maiden) thats totally unnecessary, but on other sets it would be an invaluable tool (and possible selling point). |

I tried a refill kit (don't remember brand) and ended up throwing it -and the cartridges I'd tried to refill- away. I'd even read the instructions through first! ![]() What kind of printer are you using, Denny? Or is it some high-falutin' model us plebians couldn't afford? ![]() |

I don't know what Denny uses but here is what I use and have had great luck with. Minolta 2300DL You can get a 2300W for as cheap as $350 including rebate. The problem is to replace all 4 toner cartridges is close to $650, ouch (you get the low capacity cartridges with the printer 500 pages). I get the 2500 pages of full color printing advertised per cartridge with the high capacity ($650 total). I haven't used my inkjet how many prints do you guys get per cartridge? I am wondering if I am better off using that, since I need a 7 to 1 ratio 350 pages or so per cartridge to break even. Although the HPs still have that ink rubbing off problem. ![]() --Chris Oh ya before you go running off and buy one of these, they are only rated to 90lb paper. I do 110 no problem, you just have to feed 1 sheet at a time. If you feed more it WILL jam almost every time. |

Yes, a sample layout like the promo model would be very useful to get us started. Similarly, I've always wished for a suggested "print this many copies" list for each set. I know the actual count is completely personal preference but would be very helpful to know how much to print to get started. [I can often find some of that in the instructions but that requires digging through each one as I print them.] Joe |

Sample layouts would be pretty cool. |

I think what I'll do is start a "CWU layouts" thread. Everyone can post their unique designs there and include a list of what they printed. I'll start everyone off...Give me a day or so. BTW: My printer is a Lexmark X5150. I bought it refurbished for under $80.00. |

Speaking of size, today, I printed out 65 pages of CWU parts, and I think I'm only halfway done with the amount I want ![]() I'm trying to aim for something as complex as Denny's promo castle, but I want some extra pieces to try out other configurations that I got rolling around in my head. I'm figuring I'll get to 140+ pages tomorrow and Sunday, and I'm going to need more for catwalks and tall walls. That's another way of looking at the size of the promo castle, hah! |

Denny could you please list the items (and numbers if poss.) of the make up of the promo castle. This should act as a nice guide. Also whats the prefect number for the PaperLix one inch - I mean should I set up a sweat shop or something? ![]() Lord Abaddon of Wormwood |

The models in this set are H U G E! I have a few of the buildings built and stacked and it is literaly towering over my WorldWorks Arena set right next to it. As a matter of fact, it makes the WWA look like a kids playground. Will this be the new scale for WW stuff in the future? (will WWSciFi be this scale? WWVU? The Modern Set?) -Floyd ps. You are a madman Denny! (I mean that in a good way!) Keep up the amazing work. I'll be sure to buy it! |

Ok its a bit of a vanity shot (believe me I'm far from vain with my fat bald head) but more importantly it's a good reference for scale. Think I should include this on the product page so everyone realizes how big CWU is? |

Yes! And not only because it's a good scale reference. But that's a darned cool shot of the Castle Works Ultimate. I think better than the other shots on the product page. -Floyd |

Excellent choice for a promotional picture - it really shows how big you can build this set. The Auld Grump, who had to lgive away a lot of his WW terrain when he moved... including his never completed pirate grotto/inn. |
