Denny stated in one of his post that DWU is on the books, he also said that each release in that style of sets is a reinvention on the theme. This is not a bad thing but it does keep the mouse wheel running. This got me thinking - Do we want a reinvention of VillageWorks or use that time and effort to be put into something new but equally good? I was thinking that a great add-on to CWU would be TownWorks - a Fantasy Urban town that could be in or surrounding the castle. This also could be used with VW as a town center. I'm not saying that we don't need VWU(I love the idea of new textures and construction methods), what I am suggesting is that we add to the WorldWorks world by doing a new set and new ideas not a revistation. I see TownWorks doing shops and inner-city living - With both flats of the slums and uppercrust villas, pubs, inns and coachhouses with horse stables. The shops having display rooms at the front and workshops at the back with living quarters upstairs. We need Butchers, bakers candlestick makers. ![]() VillageWorks is great but very rustic - no room for the thieves guild nor stately homes of court. TownWorks could cover the homes with the money - house and garden type of stuff (real gothic stone work would be excellent). What do you guys think? With me or for the flames? Lord Abaddon of Wormwood This is could be the town or city of your gaming dreams! |

It's not a bad idea, but I wonder if that could be covered within the CWU expansion set. Things like shop signs that could hang on the front of the existing CWU buildings, etc. Maybe a mansion (same basic design as the current CWU buildings, but with new textures and fancier props). Just a thought. ![]() |

I'm really excited that VWU is on the radar screen - and that there is a grand plan for a series of releases. I don't have any problem purchasing several high-quality sets. Smaller, more frequent releases is the key. By the way, a nice Victorian 19th century LondonWorks would be nice (hint hint)! |

Johnnygs: I can't see why VWU wouldn't cover the styles of Victorian Lonndon in some sense - The set is of a fantasy place which means that Denny could quite easily do different styles while keeping in theme. Me a real Gothic stone, creeping vines and diamond pained (sp?) glass windows would be the bee's knees. Shop fronts with glass windows and house with bay windows (and window seats). If Denny is looking at a seriers of releases then can I request that he start from the top of the food chain and working down to the village? I also aggree with Johnnygs request for smaller but quicker released sets, I can see each set covering a section of the Great City of Unger!!!! Lord Abaddon of Wormwood |

Count me among those strongly in favor of a CityWorks release. I own Village Works and will ultimately buy CWU just for the sake of the courtyard buildings. You can never have to much variety in an urban landscape; the more different buildings the better. |

I am ver ymuch in favour of victorianesque buidlings... There are a great many RPG settings that ere not your classic timbered/hatched/clay & mud era... you could have gothic and middle-ages buildings side-by-side without being anachronistic. I'd really love to see Steamworks happen somtime ![]() |

I really like the Theif city idea. I'd be using these for both Warhammer Fantasy and Mordheim, so that would fit in perfectly. |

Wow, I managed to get online twice today! (I am on a friend's computer right now.) A Steam Era city set would be great, but better as a seperate set for those who don't want a steam punk atmosphere. (Which does not describe me - I am currently running an OGL Steampunk campaign, or I will after I move into my new abode... it is currently on hold.) I think that a Steam era set has been the most requested non-official World Works product. (I know that I've asked about it.) The Auld Grump *EDIT* Though a standard fantasy medieval/renaisance city would also be on my shopping list! |
