Hmm, looks like it would be easy to make TLX stuff compatible with this if anyone wanted to put in the effort themselves. The chipboard I get at the college bookstore here is just shy of 1.4mm thick so it should come out pretty much identical once some TLX textures with appropriate markings to cut out the TerraClips notches are done. Could keep the TLX post tabs on it that way as well so existing walls and posts could be used with it.
In general it looks like this will be great for those who just want to get some gorgeous terrain onto the board in a hurry, while those of us with more time can still stick to TLX and have at least some degree of compatibility.

Wait 'til you guys see all of the textures! The amount of crazy detail and variation is unparalleled in any other set we've released so far!

I think the problem with terralinx is that you sacrifice a lot of building time to get versatility and decrease storage space... but building time is one of the most important factors (for me) about paper terrain.

This solution is surely a winner.

* Very fair price: anyone can find unpainted more or less similar wood structures for miniatures that are more expensive and of course you have to paint them too instead of having a good "paintjob" texutre already on it
* The final result is just close to perfect: a little flat but as it is hard cardstock pieces can be EASYLY modded... I think it will look great with other terrain pieces, Hirst plaster buildings, resin casts, even GW ones...
* The weight of the cardstock is the best option, wood is too heavy and paper too light... this kind of cardstock seems good to me.
* And finally the "clipping" links are good... not really a new concept as it resembles some other systems (necromunda someone?) and the VERYY OLD cardstock buildings for some toys I remember from my early ages... (in spain there were toys called COMANBOYS who have huge space stations build that way, surely in other countries there wer things similar).

One thing I really liked is the ramp solution for miniatures, with that easy pieces miniatures will not slip away... very clever.

Now, what you SHOULD evaluate (I'm sure you're already into it) is to adapt such system to the upcoming TITAN release... many people out there are hardcore scifi players... and there are not much pre-build-painted terrain for it (apart of WWG products, Ebbles ones, and other high quality Free items out there that I will not comment here)

While I agree with Grump about wishing this was a TerrainLinX product (when I saw the product as the new forum background, my first reaction was, "I Want!"), I think you can sign me up for 2 copies of each set. What can I say? I love terrain, and if this plays nice with the TerrainLinX stuff I have already, all the better.

I'm not familiar with Malifaux, but from the preview images it looks like the terrain uses a 1" grid. Is that correct?

Man, now I have to decide whether to spend my limited money on this or the precut TLX tiles. Life is full of tough decisions, I guess.

I am very impressed. I really like the way you designed the stairs and ramps to make it easy to position minatures. That will make line of sight styles of gaming a lot easier..

As far as compatability with TLX, there is no reason as to why you can't put Thoumonts buildings on terrainclips streets or have Terrainclips sewers under TLX streets.

Denny I am very impressed as to where you are going and I might even consider coming off of strike long enough to get these products but I am still waiting for other products. Pushy I know.

I pretty much figured that TLX would be continuing, they do serve somewhat different types of folks.

But the textures are sooo pretty.

Good luck with this, while I am not likely to get any of the sets (discounting purchases for gifts) I think that they are very nice looking, and hope that they do wonderfully well for you.

If they are different market segments, and the footprints are similar, I bet you could release a TLX version of this with a modest amount of effort. And if the target segments are different, there shoud be little negative impact on sales.

One development effort could net you many more individual sales (and incremental revenue over keeping the two lines separate).

And on the PDF-side, any chance of having the sets released as PDFs as well for TLX? The new textures are lovely and would give a whole load of variation to the existing streets/sewers/buildings sets.

I will definitely buy a Streets pack to give it a go.
That's a good price for the amount of product listed and having less build time is a major bonus.

This. Having seen this up close, The buildings set is probably Denny's finest work to date, and that is saying something! He puts the rest of us to shame!

Looking at what is included in the base set for the buildings is roughly 125-130 pages of regular printed sheets, giving me roughly a 39 cents a page cost. right now my best price for copies is around 41-45 cents and I often end up paying around 60 Cents.

Of Course shipping is an issue, but if it's even vaguely reasonable ($3-7) I can't see not using this.

My gaming group will be completely blown away. I'm completely blown away.

EDGING: I notice that the pieces in the preview don't seem to be edged. They are still beautiful, but I wondered if anyone had tried edging them (I've recently taken to edging my old pirates CCG models and Star wars pocketmodels and they look so much better so edging pre printed materials is totally worthwhile for me).

Due to our ongoing struggles with file-sharing and piracy in general, any potential conversions/texture dumps to TLX would be far past the products natural sales curve. It also depends on specific licensing agreements with individual publishers/partners. This is an issue which we won't have absolute clarity on until we've had some time with the TerraClips format.

TerraClips, and its tangible market success, is our best option to keep the gears turning and more importantly, to help us expand the business in general. We would sincerely like WWG to be the "go-to" place most gamers reference when they require terrain for games of all kinds. After nearly 9 years in business it is apparent that despite our best efforts, the PDF market alone only gets us half way to that goal.

Help us spread the word and you can be assured that both PDF and tangible products will continue to flourish here.

The material itself is a 1.5mm, heavy gauge card, die-cut and pre-printed with a satin finish. The edge of the card is a medium gray tone which in most circumstances won't require edging. That said, it's totally edging friendly if you have a set of markers and some time



That is a distinct possibility, though we are all chomping at the bit to create new products for the format. Again that all depends on how well the first series does.



YES! That was always one of the core functional goals of the original development. TerraClips is functionally the same as TLX in terms of modularity and the ability to "lift off" or access various levels of terrain. In fact TerraClips is generally more stable and does a better job of it in some respects.

I should probably note that TerraClips concept precedes TLX in terms of development. We just never had the resources previously to bring it to market. This is basically where TLX was birthed from.
