D&D Encounters is finally providing me with the excuse I've been needing to get Thoumont's TLX. But first, a question: Is Thoumont's (or even all TLX) based on multiples of 3"? I'd like to replicate the D&D building tiles, but those are mostly 4x4. Will it be possible to make 4" walls, roofs, etc, with Thoumont's? If so, I'm on it! If not, there is a competing product that provides the dimensions I'm looking for, but not the TLX snazzyness. Thanks... I'm ready to build! |

All TLX sets are based around a 3"x3" base grid. 3"x3" small floors, 6"x6" big floors and 3"x6" hallways. HOWEVER! All TLX sets also come in 1", 1.5" and gridless formats, meaning that a 3"x3" area is 9 1" squares but also 4 1.5" squares. So if you're willing to make the leap from actual inches to simply squares units of space then the 1.5" grid should suit your needs quite well. |

Thanks, Matt. I like the idea of using 1.5" squares with 28mm figs, but I'm not sure if I can make that leap. I'd like to just make walls and maybe roofs to frame in my Dungeon Tiles and printed maps. Since I'm not planning on making TLX mount boards, can I just cut 2" off the 6" wall and roof pieces? Or will that totally mess with the art on them? |

While I don't quite buy the 1.5 argument either I do have to say that it is well worth getting Thoumont's TLX and the Streets. Heck, if you only bought those two then you will be well served. That said, I would love to see an eventual expansion of the set, adding those floating walls. The Auld Grump, who has been happy with all the TLX sets so far.
