I thought it would look nice after the preview pictures and looking through the instructions...I was wrong, seeing the parts up close and personal...this is stunningly good work.
I think I shall get this printed for me, the extra shine from laser toner will really add to this model

Funny enough, I did not meet or talk to Tracy Hickman while at Gencon. Tracy contacted me immediately after Gencon and though he did intend to stop by the booth he didn't have time.

We ended up discussing unrelated projects we might collaborate on but when the subject shifted to our shared love of Steampunk and he started talking The Lakota Dragons War, the rest was history. This was the perfect excuse for WorldWorksGames to fully sink our teeth into Steampunk and let me tell you my friends...this is just the beginning! Tracy is an awesome guy by the way! Intensely creative and willing to take some risks.

Not only that but it afforded us the opportunity to try out the FORGE product line which is an attempt at full-scale 1:1 weapons. We hope to fully expand that line in several directions as well.

Don't worry though, terrain is by no means taking a back seat. We're just expanding our reach a bit.

One of my players has just told me that he want to have a Weird Science player in my Rippers Campaign ... so what a great timming. I've just bought it !

It's any chance to implement in the future in the store the chance to buy in Euros ? I've seen that in rpgnow if I put Euros is a bit more cheapper (7'54 is the conversion of paypal vs 7'34 if I pay in €) It's not a lot and I prefer that you have the money...but only to know.

Something that might go with any future steampunk type developement is a whaleback steamer.

30 pages for the Gun, around 16 pages for the Frame and Certificate. Some of those are optional or alternate pages. Most mount onto foamcore , as you probably noticed from the instructions

I can just see this up against dragons

It took me like 4 days to make mine. And that was during testing where some parts were revised. Although granted I did spend a good bit of time at it each day.


I also found "zip dry" glue very useful for anything needing to be glued to the foamcore edges and transparencies. It holds well , but even better if any squeezes out of the edges to a limited extent that excess can be rubbed off, kind of like rubber cement.

I got stuck last night. Anyone have any pointers?

That would be great, if it worked. However, that's one experiment someone else can try first - the idea of foil coating sticking in the fuser unit is not a risk I want to take with my printer.

IF anyone knows of coated card that that is good for this, would love to hear.

Turns out that Google really is your friend here - there are companies that make gold foil stock specifically for laser printers. Somewhat pricey (up to $3 a sheet, depending on point of purchase), but doable. Lots of metallic laser print papers, Label sheets.

I'm guessing you'd have to do some serious photoshopping to get the look you want printed on foil paper though. Probably a selective desaturate on all of the gold elements (so it doesn't drop a bunch of yellow ink on them), and then 50%ish opacity, or setting the layer on multiply... You'd have to do some experimentation.

(My guess of a papercraft Wurlitzer was, of course, way off. - Though a Wurlitzer equipped with rows of Lightning Guns, now that would be something else!)

Does anyone have any recommendations about how to buy or build a flashing light and/or sound effects to go inside?

you could build a small LED rig with a 555 timer. another option would be to use a small motor to spin a hood around the light, with an angled mirror (like a lighthouse). The advantage to using a programmable chip like a timer is that you can get a cool 'random' flicker effect. On the other hand, you have to buy the stuff to program the chip. Instructables.com has some good diy projects like this if you're interested.

I'll take some shots of the interior of my drum when I get a minute. Its basically a kids toy with a small motor and switch. I glued a pen light to the top of the motor...EASY!

With Halloween approaching you can find some great lighting options at the local Dollar Store as well! Even a simple LED that shifts colors or fades in and out will work.

Now that it's October, I'm seeing the 'flickering' LED tealight candle replacements, 1.50$ the pair, and they're just everywhere.
