Post subject: | Forum Problems |
Hey Denny, I thought that I'd let you know that I am having some problems with the the forum, after entering a post I recieve the following error: Ran into problems sending Mail. Response: 535 Incorrect authentication data DEBUG MODE Line : 131 File : /home/worldw9/public_html/forum/includes/smtp.php The first time it happened I had it on a tab in Mozilla Firefox, after entering my post I went to a different tab and ignored the World Works tab for a while, during which it sent the same post multiple times. Later I noticed that the title on the tab bar was flickering between World Works and what I think was an error message. I have since managed to avoid the embarassment of multiple posting, but it is a minor nuisance. (I no longer leave the tab on the same page, but hit back, back, reload...) The Auld Grump *EDIT* Hmmm, it didn't happen this time... |

Same thing happened with me last night. I assumed that the error message meant that the post wasn't getting thtough (I don't know what "mail" has to do with any of this!). -edit- It didn't happen with this post. Yip! |

Sometimes people turn on Topic Watch (ie, click "Notify me when a reply is posted") and when someone posts in a topic with that, it will try to email whoever is watching the topic. Thats usually what causes that kind of problem. I would think the problem would be on Denny's end with his mail server, since the way it typically works is that it sends of the Topic Notification as part of the script that saves the message, after the message gets saved - hence why you can see the error but still have the message post successfully. That would also explain why it happens on some messages, and not others - only some messages have the "Notify" option checked, while others (like this one, a new topic from TAG) do not. |

Do you need forum access to fix this Robby or is this something I can fix? |

Hmmm, the flickering may have been a sign that my computers Windows XP was getting unstable, I have since had to reformat. The machine started going slower and slower, then when I booted it up again it was at a crawl with the graphics at their lowest res. Not good. The bad part is that I put the manuals for my most frequently used programs in storage, the CD keys written safely on their covers... ![]() So part of the problem (the flicker and multiple postings) was at my end. *EDIT* Hmmm, I don't believe that anyone should have an elite member token on this forum until they post some pictures of their craftings... (Yeah, I still need to get a digital camera.) The Auld Grump |

I've been having problems with the forum too, although if I get an error message and just go back to the forum my post usually shows up. If I try to resubmit I get an error message. Hey Denny, those "Top Poster" avatars are really terrific! Thanks! |

And let me repeat again for the record that Corel has great customer service! A five minute phonecall and my trusty old WordPerfect 2002 is back up and running. The Auld Grump, who likes some of the features on WordPerfect 2004, but loves the font manager that comes with WP 2002! |
