The last thread was getting "a bit long in the tooth" so I thought I would post all of the sneak peeks to date in one
spot for everyone.

A very well used "minimalist" color palette.

An incredible amount of detail has been put into the texturing. I had to look at it for a few minutes before I started to notice all the little touches.

This has a very "lived in" feel. The grunginess, the small, tight corridors. It looks like a salvage ship that is on months long journeys. It now really reminds alot of the original Alien movie in terms of setting.

I can't wait to see what types small props comes with this set. (I see crates off in the distance in one of the shots)

Here's hoping for alot of modularity in terms of corridor/ship design. And I hope large *multilevel cargo type holds won't be too difficult to create using the provided pieces. Are gantries/steps/ladders available? Or will I need to make these?

i like many of the new pictures in this thread. The Modular Gunner Sations, in particular, and the general look of extreme modularity make this set look very nice, and something i can't wait to get my mits on (hoping for a pre Wedensday the 22nd release so i can print it out a bunch of stuff and take it when i go to the realitves and sit around cutting over the christmass holiday...)

i already have visions of dropping the Gunner pods on the sides of he ship and making some nice Very Star Warsie Feel and look ships for the players next Freighter...

The bunks, lockers and crew quarters remind me of Red Dwarf.

First off, my hat's off to Paul for creating this really awesome looking set! This looks really well done. I'm seeing lots of props laying about and I've noticed the fact that I can see you've spent some time making sure this stuff isn't overly difficult to build (flat walls, simple box shapes). The texturing looks "most impressive", but the pices don't look really difficult. Very impressive indeed! The only thing that looks like it might be difficult is the circular holes in the bulkheads. Short of getting a punch in the right size, I'm not sure how I'll skin that cat, yet (I've never been very impressed with the results that I get from my circle cutter, but I have no doubt that either you've already addressed this in the instructions.)

Second, I've got to say that after the delays that happened during the development of FL I was very disappointed and a bit jaded. I really didn't heed your advice that this set was worth the wait. Well, I was wrong. From what I see here it will be more than worth the wait. It's looking great guys. Now finish it up so I can purchase it and start working on it already

Hmmm, and some would work fairly well for Steampunk settings....

*EDIT* And needless to say the set looks great! I am not likely to use it as a ship, but it will do very nicely for other duties. (The only SF game I am thinking of right now, unless you count Steampunk, is Babylon 5.) Lots of little details that can be used in so many ways.

Maybe Paul could fly Spaceworks: First Light to a planet where the society is based on steam ...

Just a quick note on “modularity”. We are working on several different builds of “First Light”. Realistically this model set could be used for anything from a plethora of unique space fairing vessels of ANY size to planetary habitat modules. The flexibility of the set will only become apparent once you’ve had a chance to look through everything that’s been included. A comment is floating around out there that “First Light” isn’t modular and that simply isn’t true. Sometimes the problem with releasing “sneak peeks” is that people make false assumptions based on incomplete information. Some very minor kit bashing will produce an amazing variety of Sci-Fi settings. (Air officially cleared )

There are two very unique features in this set, one being the ability to “roof” each room individually thereby concealing the contents of the rooms from your players. Once your players arrive in a room simply remove the corresponding roof section. This adds a whole new dimension to “live” mini’s play and solves the "concealment factor" many people have complained about in the past. The other unique feature is the sliding doors. An elegant and simple mechanism for showing open and closed-door states. Paul even included a “door kit” which will allow you to custom place sliding doors wherever you want them most.

The complete list of features is coming soon and I have a pretty high level of confidence that this set will make it out before Christmas. I’m going to be helping Paul get things finished up before deadline.

Bugger it - break out the bamboo stick instead - you folk are too soft with your whips and all.

Oddly, I won't be using the removable roofs for the B5 game - the characters will already be familiar with the station. Even for the scenario involving Babylon Station the characters will have had orientation.

Now back to swinging the watch... Steampunk.... steampunk... you want to do steampunk...
