Post subject: | Embossing templates, new modeling technique |
So a long time ago when i was working on my own pdf starship game i came up with a modeling technique that i thought could be useful for wormhole. it uses the idea of embossing the paper used to construct the model in order to replicate finer surface details. to emboss the paper with your desired design you create an Embossing template, the template is made up of layers of paper shapes that create high and low areas. once you have made the template you can apply it to any number of copies of the same part by laying the part over the template and burnishing it. i made up a sample template for the partial bow, while the results are a little hard to see in the photo they sand out in real life and make the model much more satisfying to the touch. you can get the pdf for the template here http://www.papercrafted.com/wp-content/ ... mplate.pdf I think this technique could be used to improve a whole lot of WWG products. just imagine being able to feel things like grout lines on a tile floor, or a bumpy shingle roof. |

Couldn't you just score along the tile lines with a toothpick or dead ball point pen for a textured floor? |
