Mars Station is a venerable set, but still one of my favorites. I recently took some palm trees from Skull Cove and put them on some Mars bases, and an Egyptian watchtower from elsewhere too. Then I ran some D&D encounters on the new setup.

First up, my daughters ran their Dwarf and Eladrin against Lord Bo and his humanoid cronies:


Then the guys were ambushed by Gnolls in the canyon:




And then the guys had a chance to test their mettle against Lord Bo, same as the girls:




The encounter with the Gnolls was filler, so the guys could hit 5th level at the end of the adventure. They did very well against the hyena-dudes.

Lord Bo gave my girls some real trouble, we had to break halfway through the encounter for bedtime, but we'll be picking it up again next week. They're down to just the two characters and a companion, they lost their other companion in the previous session and they are struggling as a result.

The guys did much better against Lord Bo, but it still wasn't easy for them. And they have six characters running around! So my girls are getting their butts kicked in an encounter that gave twice as many experienced players a run for their money. And they are still thinking of ways to turn it around and win it!

Nice use of the set. To bad Skull Cove is not around still. It had a lot of nice stuff in it.

Skull Cove is one of my three essential outdoor sets, in addition to Mars Station and Hinterlands. I like the ground tiles from Atlantis more, but Skull Cove has all the other goodies too

I am hoping WWG gang finds a away to make the old stuff available to those that now about it and still want it. I totally understand why they took them down, but I did not have the chance to get a few of the old sets i wanted like Skull Cove

As of yet, many of the older sets (pre-TLX!) are still available through Piazo.com, including Skull Cove - unfortunately they are still at the old more expensive price points.
Believe me, I am still salivating and waiting for the chance of getting the good stuff here directly from WWG, and hopefully at the new current less expensive prices - but I must admit to snapping up a few to make sure I did have them in my cardstock building inventory (*cough* collection *cough*).
