For the past few years I have attended ConnCon a "local" Connecticut convention, I generally run a few events as well it gets me in the convention for free.

since I started going I have been trying to run a "Delve", and finally got the right series of events to fall into place for it to work out this year. I was originally going to use Dwarven Forge.... But darn carting it in and out was going to be a pain, so I decided to go with TLX.

It went up on the Events board over the weekend, and so Monday I started planning the Map, took 2 hours of fussing to get something I really liked on paper, so that night I went home and started printing off parts... Thought I had more ink than i did so last night finished printing parts....!

I have them with me at work, hope to get some time to work on them, today or at tonight,s game.

This is a place holder thread to make me work on the build, if I have a nagging webspace saying put pictures up I will work more on it and not play on the computer...

I am looking for suggestions on "monsters" to have in one section.

I know Three of the areas but I need some "minions" to be working for the misguided Wizard,

Orcs, goblins, bugbears? What is a good classic species to face off against for 5th level characters?

Personally I LOVE hobgoblins. If you're going 3.anything or PF then adding a class lvl or two of fighter to most of them should help make them a bit tougher, not sure what would be appropriate as I haven't GMed since 3.5 first came out. The thing to remember about hobgoblins is that they're militant. They can have the numbers of regular goblins, but the tactics and discipline of a hardened unit. Perhaps the wizard has secured the services of a elite band of hobgoblin mercs to further his goals.

On a side note, while I love the art for PF goblins, I despise their hobgoblins. 3e had them much better.

As for the monsters, what system are you using?

So no pictures yet, but did get most all of the walls, and floors cut out last night, still have posts and tabs to go but I can start putting the floor tiles together tonight and then the walls to get a good idea of things I may be missing.

One thing i was totally not expecting as I swore I saw them in the pictures for the dwarven set was that there are no multi arch walls. I swore i saw them and they are there but as the bottom half of double high walls in one set...

Won't work for what I have in mind... So have to figure out what I am doing, I have a few ideas but was really kind of shocked that such a "staple" WWG item was missing from that set.

As to questions on system.

This will be a D&D 4th delve (as it is simple to run).
Format is basically a group of 4-6 players have 45 min to get through as much of the "dungeon" as they can.

1.5 x 2 ft board two levels.

Forest out side (one row with hinterlands tiles with cliffs)
Then the remaining 1.5 x 1.5 foot area is inside an old shrine, they have to choose to go left or right depending on which side they go will determine what they face, each leads up and back to the final room.

So 4 possible encounters to get through in 45 mins...

Well did manage to get a decent bit done last night, got all of the base level floor tiles together, I have the walls all cut out, not glued together, but ready to be folded and glued.

So should be able to get most of that done tonight, expect pictures over the weekend, I still have posts to do,,,and the last of the tabs...

How big is your map? Is it multi-level? Do tell!

I'd have gone with a pair of surly Bugbears as bodyguards myself.

Have someone else at the Con take pictures of the setup and the games so that you're not distracted.

I got FAR FAR less than I wanted to get done over the weekend, pesky Life things happened, like having to go to work, and helping some one move came up...

So no pictures, still in construction phase... leh sigh.

To answer some questions in more detail.

The whole board is 1.5 x 2 ft. two layers high.

The "shrine" is 1.5 x 1.5 ft and there is a 1.5 x .5 area of forest that is the first encounter outside the shrine. It has some 2 level high cliffs that will lead into the shrine.

Ok like finished construction (still need some incidentals like a stair case but most of it is done) last night!

Ok... I went through and put it all together... Realized there were a few areas I wanted to change/add things to... so Printed off some 3 inch walls and working on them today.

I WILL USE THIS TOMORROW!

The players have characters, the only thing remaining is to get everybody together with a camera...

I can't wait to see what comes of this. I am anxious for the pics of awesomeness.

Ran a test run of the adventure, and good thing as I needed to tweak an encounter or two.

Also realized that my math on something was wrong, i had done a layout of all of the pieces and not fully put it together and realized that uhm yeah was missing a few pieces or things went together different than I had thought, so after the fully constructed run, printed off some fix pieces last night and will be running it again tonight with a different group.

Over all it came out very nice but needed a few tweaks.

Pictures were taken haven't had a chance to pull them from the camera.

Dry-runs for Con-adventures are a must. I can't wait to see the pictures!

Ran it again last night, with a slightly different group of players (I am in two RPG groups that have a bit of overlap so some players where the same others different).

More pictures taken, will be posting them, and some of just the set up after work today.

Here are a few, going to take some time to resize all of them.

There is a limit to how many you can attach to a single post anyway (I think it is three). As for the pica, inspirational! I always love to see multiple sets being used. Makes me want to build a bunch of cliffs stuff.

I know this was a time constraint issue, but make sure to go back and edge. You will be glad you did.

Seriously, very nice looking stuff. I am still working through all the cliff pieces. It's nice to see the two sets paired up - motivates me to get a table put together soon!

Sorry mproteau I was trying to have no Dwarven specific references/images in it all, so that one would not work.

It is a Reworked cave, it used to be a "druids" home one of the reasons i went with the lost hall the kind of celtic knots etc worked for me as kind of druidism.

This three art a time is kind of tiresome...

Although doing 3 at a time does help post counts

There have been some modifications to this, which you may see tomorrow...

Some of these were not 100% done when put "on film" all are now cut and glued, it was a test run.

More things if not everything was edged and a few things were "optimized" and like the stairs were added...

These look great! Especially if you went back to touch things up. Thanks for sticking with it despite the three to a post limit. You could put them in a zip file and then upload that, but then people would have to download it and I would suspect that you would get a lot less views.

That build looks excellent! Especially the way you mixed set to create an outside and in. Try using imageshack if you want more pics, it's what I use.

Hello all

Back from the Con, (well got back last night and between the hour I got back at, and watching the season ender of the walking dead, didn't have a lot of spare time to write...)

The Terrain drew lots of Ohhs and Ahhs to the point of getting more people into my game.

They gave me a crappy time slot, 11:30-2:00, and only two people had signed up. When I got to the room the previous event had run over, and one of the players was in it but the other was no where to be found. So I hung out and they finished there game, while I was waiting.

It got down to just that guy and the DM and his kid cleaning up the last game, we were going to break and just go home as it was around 12:30 and just call my game a wash, when the one guy who had signed up up asked "what is in the big box?"

You see i had found a box big enough to hold the set up completely assembled in it, so i just pulled it out and instant terrain!

So i pulled it out and they were all impressed and wanted to play, so one went back to his room and got another player and my event went off thanks to the WWG terrain I had built.

I told them about who made the products i used in and how it was all done etc, and plugged the Terraclips products i had seen in at a vendor in the Dealer room.

I also plugged some of the minis and other terrain bits I had used from the Dungeon Crawler minis (ala greyhaze around here) and some zone markers from Balor.
