My Group is playing Skull & Shackles, and I made this as our ship - The Buxom Broadsides.

It remains unfinished, but I wanted to post WIP shots. What I have now is Steps 1-6, Left to go is the Sails, Ratline Ledges, and then the inner hull walls, and props, hammocks, etc.

Many of the WIP shots show her unlined, as this is my first build and I hadn't yet realized to line as I cut, before I glued, and then go back again after cutting out whitespace, So I was lining after I glued, and sometimes I'd entirely forget. In the latest WIP shot, I went back and lined things, and intend to do another once-over with the felt.

And here she is with Masts and Ratlines - starting to look line a real Ship! *most* of the lining is done at this point - I fixed the more glaring spots I had missed.

From the pics it looks like the ink is cracking on some of the folds. E.g. round the back of the main cabin:

I use edging pens to tidy these up, changing pens to match the colors along the crack. Just have to be careful to use pens that don't bleed much.

And like I said, beautiful job.

Are you using regular cardstock or photopaper? Matte photo paper is more expensive but I will never go back.

I'm using 110lb cardstock. I have a lot of it, since I play RPGs and I prefer to print my character sheets on cardstock since a lot of erasing goes on.

I have finished lining and the sails, as well as begun a few of the props and optional touches.

@Greypilgrim - I take a lot of photos of miniatures, so I'm used to working on small scale.

The last few images are pics I took of me preparing floors for a dungeon I hope to run in my upcoming Pathfinder games.

Makes me want to rebuild my Maiden. It was destroyed during the long journey back home from GenCon. I really should have given it away while I was at the conference like I did with my CastleWorks Ultimate build.

Over the past few years I have been amazed with the Maiden's that I have seen built. They look so awesome I finally bought the set, even if not to play, it will still be an amazing prop. My one question that has not been answered is, how does it play? In my opinion taking the masts off would seem quite a shame, but, how else could you deal with them?

I've used it in play and it works great. Most of the play was on the top, with the ship fully kitted. Only twice did we pull the tops off. Once was for a boarding action where we played combat in lower decks.

The second one was more interesting. I have a stock 3 master and a custom 2 master I kitbashed, and they were engaged in a battle. One ship rammed another, and I played that out round by round with the ships "collapsing". The masts got pulled, the decks shuffled - it was actually a really cool effect.

So you don't find large excited clumsy hands ripping off masts and rigging?

I try to be the only one removing terrain elements for the table. That is a DM job.

I have played with masts and without. I go without when doing multi-level encounters where the party is on split decks. I have not had to yell at players for breaking my Maiden. (I have been agitated about other components before, but not the Maiden).
