The backup took more time than the upgrade. had to download about 500MB of pictures via FTP, then backup all the gallery php files and then export the database. All this so I could restore it if the upgrade went bad. Thank God it did not. Took me a couple of hours tho. I am not complaining, it is my pleasure to contribute and I eat this kind of thing up.

The new version adds more stability and control. Makes it very easy to get a new theme and make it fit this site.
