For me what seems to work best is having a scenario in mind, then building, writing, and painting towards that goal.

Back a few years ago I used to give the finished WW terrain away as the prize for whatever scenario I was running at the time. It was only after I stopped running the scenarios that my interest in modeling began to fade.

i was just thinking....that map you built is so freakin huge. i was playing heroclix with my friend a while back and it took forever for us just to move into position...and that was a relatively small map. how long does it take for you to get from one side to the other???

The trick wih a BIG area in HeroClix is to write a nifty scenario with everyonbe in various starting areas, not just table edge deployment.

Scenarios are better for all small skirmish games. Really.

That is a very effective motivator. I'm almost ready to buy mayhem and I don't own a single modern figure of any kind.

I really love the props. I know that there are a lot of props for fantasy as well but they don't compare to the diversity of the modern props.

okay, a little update here....

since i started thinking more and more about my upcoming heroclix game session, i thought "well i still dont want to glue, cut, and burnish at all....but what the heck, ill finish up a billboard sign that is half done from last time".

and so, two billboards, a corner railroad bridge, two straight railroad bridges, and a subway tunnel later....im motivated again

now all i need is some buildings...time to convince the wife to let me buy more stuff!
