Here is a build in progress of a personal Shellendrak kitbash for Terrain linx.

I just wanted to prove how crazy my wife is!! Her first terrain linx project and it is a three story monstrosity.

Still needs more columns and edging, then we start on the next floor.

They look like Gretchin from the 2nd edition 40K boxed set to me.

Nice work so far. Have you gone insane trying to cope with all the different wall variants yet?

What kind of stretching/compressing did you do to get the 7" long 3" high(?) (IIRC) walls down to 6"x2"?

Very, very cool. This set is on my shortlist of ones that I want to convert.

It looks like you chose to make all the posts using the exterior wall pattern? And used that pattern for the top of the anti-warp walls, as well. Did you plan the build on paper first (I remember using graph paper for my first Shellendrak build), or some other method?

Very close Matt. I've done some conversion work on the orks so they don't all look the same.


As far as compression, I'm not sure there is a specific ratio used on these conversions. My wife loves the photoshop. She's using the TLX base sets as templates and layering the shellendrak overtop. They aren't as neat as she would like them, but I think they turned out pretty darn good.

The floor anchors are all getting the invisible treatment and they are matching the floors. It will be interesting to see if the hard wood floors turn out as nice as the tile ones did.

the exterior wall cap is a combination of the foamcore cap from the shellendark set and a strip from the interior wall section.


My wife used the exterior wall edge as the column texture and just wrapped it all the way around. it works quite well in the Shellendrak interiors, very gothic.

She did plan this layout using the TLXtm Planner



Here is another shot with all the posts and walls constructed. Still lots of anchors to do. It should give you an idea of how many textures and combinations of textures my wife had to work up.

I noticed a warped wall in one of the rooms while taking this picture.
We've been trying lots of new glues since our supply of UHU office pens have run out. We think the warped wall was made using the ZIG 2-way pen. I've since swapped it with another wall section using staples glue tape. It works great on flat surfaces. I should probably save this comment for the glue thread, but I thought i'd mention it since it affected our build.

To simplify the project a bit we are making the basement out of the standard TLX textures. The plan is to give the building a clear definition between the foundation and the upper structure.

Work on the anchors is going slowly, but the UHU twist and glue seems to be working well. We are getting a good bond on the anchors even though it is much more watery than the old stuff.

All the walls for the basement level are cut,scored,and folded.

Here are the first two floors completed. As you can see the "basement" level turned out pretty nice against the shellendrak textures.


Wish I could get my foam core cuts a little straighter. You may notice some of the walls don't sit flush with the floor. My poor crafting skills strike again!

Wife is happy with the build so far. She is planning the next floor as we speak. She is still trying to figure out the mansard roof pieces.

A couple of orks are checking out the property.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. This build is intended to be the core of a Munchkin RPG my wife is running.

Of course there had to be a card landraider parked out front...

Out of curiosity, do you keep your Munchkin stuff in the Huggies box that was in a picture a few posts up? That would be kind of ironic.

Not yet, still full of Diapers. But it would be a perfect box. i'd just need to photoshop a sword into the baby's hand.

Where did you get the plain Streets wall texture? That's the one I want more than all the ones included in the set. lol

The "plain" streets wall texture is another quick bash. Using photoshop again my wife simply copied one section of plain wall (one side has sconces and the other does not) and pasted it over the archway side of a standard section

No resizing necessary since it is already in the standard format. The nice thing about the level of detail in the WWG textures is shrinking them is relatively simple. The natural grainy texture to the stonework walls scales well when you do have to adjust it.

The next level is in the works. Several floor sections are done. I think we've figured out where we went wrong on the first floor. I wasn't cutting the foamcore at an angle along the outer edges, so some sections have interference along the lower edges. We didn't read the directions well enough the first time. The next floor should be much neater. That will help the walls sit flat against the floors.

Of course I have to comment on the strength of the new TLX sets. I came home today to find this cat:



Sitting on our Shellendrak build. I had a mini heart attack, then realized the construction was fine!

Completed Third story (second floor)

All the posts are done and the wall sections cut and mounted. The only thing left to do on the structure is the roof! some of those pieces are complete as well. You might be able to see them in some of these shots



My wife did some minor modification to the stair pieces so they could be used as interior stairs without any interference from the wall posts. They are actually being held against the wall by a little pressure from the upstairs railing.

VERY impressive! Hats off to you and your wife.

How did she do it? Cut out pieces along the corner so the stairs kind of go over/around the anchor? That was one thing I was looking for a workaround for, Stairs colliding with posts. (Of course, not anchors. My bad.)

A slight adjustment to the regular stairs and voila!

As the anchors are currently holding the posts up they don't get in the way at all. Nice and square.
