Pictures of the damage incured to the Maiden II... these are actually disheartening for me lol, but this is one example of where the original Maidens design exceeds my own. Her masts were able to be unstepped, mine weren't... It made them incredibly sturdy, but also put them at high risk if exposed to carelessness. One roomate who doesn't care later and you get something like this...

I will be trying to salvage the lower hull at the very least, I'm not sure about much else, there is alot of damage not visible thru the pics with my webcam in this light. I lost a few other builds which I didn't keep... for some reason I can't seem to throw her away lol

Time to replace your roomate?

Sorry to hear about the damaged build--I know how much that can suck. To keep things positive, if you are a gamer, perhaps you could use a ship-wreaked Maiden.

As bad as it is, it actually looks like a proper ship wreck. I think it's a good a time as any to have something involving a shipwreck.

And make sure you have your room mate pay for the materials and extra time needed to construct a new one. This way he'll be less inclined to carelessly wreck any more of your models.

The Maiden was the first major cardstock project I ever tried to build. Just thinking about having to redo that gives me shudders.

if you were to rebuild it, I'd consider thinking about going to back to the original design for the masts.
For storage and transport, the ability to remove the masts has been key.
Without that I know my version of the maiden would have been destroyed years ago.

Careless roomate was left to his own designs for reasons far surpassing the destroyed Maiden II, including knocking up my sister and ditching her, and not covering his rent for two months, and stealing the money I was giving him for rent (you can imagine my anger over this) and various other reasons lol. As for the damage he incured to the ship, as far as he was concerned it was just paper and would be great kindling for starting a fire, I knew at the time it was a bad idea to leave anything delicate in his truck (we were just in the process of moving) but it had started to rain and I decided not to risk trying to get it inside which would have damaged it anyway. Little did I know he'd go off for a joyride without a care for my stuff in the back before I even woke up the next morning, finding a box sitting on top of her was almost the end of the little friendship I used to have with him... so I never expected to actually get any recompense for it, especially when he just shifted the blame everywhere else but himself, including me.

I can say Karma bit him in the end, after I moved out and ended my friendship with him I found out later he lost everything he owned, from a very expensive computer to his entire sword collection.

As for a shipwreck lol, yah, I know, it really does look like one. I put about 30 hours into it which is one of the biggest reasons I havn't tossed it yet. The lower hull part is split, but is probably the most salvageable part of the entire build. The other problem is (not visible in the pics) is the tears the paper took that would have to be patched over. I havn't completely given up on options to repair or reuse this build but it is far down my list of stuff related to building.

Ouch that guy sounds like a real winner, good to see karma caught up to him.... Good luck rebuilding the Maiden!

Use it as a wreck. I can picture a few undead prowling it.

Cut that mast, and set it on the deck.

Roomates are tricky.

They say in life you NEVER build relationships like those you did when you where young. Remember that.
We become too jadded and guarded for "Friends" to really get to know us.
