This is likely the result of scoring too deeply. 110lb cardstock can be a bit finicky that way which is why I've been recommending 80lb coverstock lately (which is actually thicker believe it or not). In terms of adding a secondary support I would be happy to put up a file for free is someone has a minute to kitbash some kind of support wedge. |

This is correct. Applying superglue is a way to make the base stem "stiff" and more durable. The downside is that, like many types of glue, the superglue will look a bit too "shiny" when dried. Which is no big issue if you give your ships a sheet of matt varnish anyway, which will make the gloss disappear. Finding the right varnish for cardboard models is, however, a bit tricky. The superglue method is definitely the most unobtrusive solution, unlike using clear tape to strengthen the base. Most of my fighters perform pretty well without any reinforced stems, but they haven't seen much action yet. |
