Post subject: | Attack Phase: LOS determination? |
Hello, I read through the Rules and didn't really see this addressed: I understand that weapon range is determined by the closest ship-to-ship points, sourced from within the attacking ship's firing arc for the weapon. However, for purposes of determining "shoot throughs", how is LOS determined? Can the attacker decide to make a shot at a slightly different angle to a different (maybe further, but still in range) part of the target ship if it avoids shooting through another enemy vessel? Logically, this seems to make sense to me, but it would seem to make screening tactics rather difficult to execute -- especially for the larger ships! Maybe that's the point... Thoughts? Concept |

A vessel can fire at any angle legally within their firing arc...so yes, you can choose to draw any line from your vessel to theirs that will allow you to avoid a screening vessel. As with all things, reason should be one's best guide, though this can also be hard to accomplish in a wargame setting, depending on who you're gaming with. A lazer-sited 1mm wide gap between vessels shouldn't be used as an excuse to say "there's a gap, so I can shoot through!". |
