Post subject: | Question regarding fighter ops on carriers |
The convoy carrier has 4 bays and can hold 4 fighters. I'm curious -- how "sticky" are fighters to a carrier's fighter bay? Do we need to track which fighters are in which bays, such that they MUST launch from their respective bay? Or can one bay launch multiple fighters during a turn? From a game play standpoint, it seems it would be possible to launch a fighter from a bay, move the squadron off normally, and then have the next fighter squadron launch from the same bay, since it is now clear. In this form of usage, fighter bays can become "launch arcs" for the carrier (e.g. the enemy is off the carrier's starboard side, so we'll launch our fighters out of the starboard bays to get them into the fray faster). But is this how you intended it? |

The fighters can rest on the Carriers base, and be carried along with the carrier. What i do is i perch the fighters on the base lined up with the bay they "chose" to enter. Then when they launch they have to leave the same bay they entered. Although i don't see any reason you cant touch the base on the left side of the the ship and dock with a bay on the right side. |

Yeah, I guess the question is...does the carrier have some internal slipways that can shunt fighters around between bays or not. |

In this particular case, the physical model lays out the rule. The fighters are placed in one or another bay, and once placed, must launch back out of that same bay. When a squadron comes into the carrier, it can be placed in any open bay...but when it leaves, it must leave from its assigned location. |
