Post subject: | Issues with the TOS switches |
Hey guys, im on building my TOS units so far and i've encountered an issues that i havent seen any complaints about yet. I find the switches to be a bit difficult to keep down. When i pull one down, it springs back into the 'up' position. I scored them like a good boy before i cut them out of the sheets, but perhaps i didnt score deep enough. Also i was thinking about cutting up little pieces of and hide them inside the folds so they sort of magnetically stick in either position. What do you guys think? |

I've had similar problems. I tried the craft magnets, but at least the ones I got aren't powerful enough; because of the "angle" of the switches folding, they aren't able to get a flat connection, and thus it doesn't hold them at all. The extra weight, though, DOES help the switch stay down when I pull on it, but then it often has a hard time staying UP. This is the one major issue I've had with the TOS units - the switches just don't seem to work right. |

Hmmm, honestly I think this is an issue of paper weight and scoring. I never had an issue with switches staying down especially after they were worked in. One thing I'd like to make you aware of however is that we have a new toggle switch design in our upcoming fleet expansion. It's really Thrall's (Joseph Beaubien) brilliance at work here. He came up with a very cool and reliable alternative that pops in and out of position with incredible efficiency. If it turns out to be a popular alternative we can look at retrofitting older TOS units with the feature. |
