Since the Supply Run scenario calls for a special Convoy Carrier that does not dock Fighters or use anything but autofire weapons, I thought it would be fun to 'bash a special Supply Ship model. I chnaged the color markings to yellow to match the Medium Transport from the "Firstlight In Wormhole" models.

Would anyone be interested in this as a kitbash submission?

I would say go ahead and submit it. But can you? Are there components to it that are unchanged, so come from WH set. Because I doubt WW wants to make the carrier available as standalone item.

Everything has been at least recolored. Some of the sides had no 'bashing work done, but every horizontal surface has had at least a little. And the base has been extensively reworked (looking at the pictures I see a spot I missed lol!) I am also working on a Supply Ship-specific TOS to go with it. I was hoping to gauge the desire for this before I put more work into to make it marketable, as I alrwady have everything ready to go for myself, but if I am expecting oher people to use it I need to pretty it up a little

That could be gotten around by editing the sides so there are no longer any bays and by editing the stand so it sits 1/4"-1/2" lower (so fighters cannot be placed under it). It would make it stand out even more as a seperate class of ship on the table.

Then again, if the stand is left at the same height it could serve as a decoy ship for some scenarios. 3 such ships in a fleet one is the real supply vessel while the other two are decoy carriers (with a full compliment of fighters) made up to lure in pirates...

I am also working on a suppy ship model but so far only have a few line drawings I made with a CAD program. Mine will still be a capital ship but will not look like the carrier (if I can figure out what I am doing in photoshop that is ).

That is a beautiful supply ship! Just cover the open bays with a strip of cargo hatches maybe, as sugested. Wow, what a neat bash that is. I'm very interested in it.

I would be interested in buying it once it would be submitted as an official kitbash.

I have had multiple problems trying to get the sides rendered as cargo doors rather than bays. So it is on a bit of a hiatus right now.

I hope to get it revised and submitted at some point, just not sure when.

Why not just "cut'n'paste" elements from the long strip of sidewall at the bow and 'cover over' the bay areas completely (ie leaving the side hull as a single long piece running the length of the ship with no indented fighter bay areas)? Then it's just a case of removing the bay area markings from the base and bingo

IDEA: if you're still having fits over the cargo doors, how about redoing the bay floors to show yellow/black striping, tiedowns, etc. so it looks like a loading dock? maybe put some half red/half green lights on the walls like the backup lights on a (20th century Terran) factory loading dock?

Sorry for the thread necromancy, but I wanted to post an update on this project. Having seen Thrall's beautiful Verus Cargo Frigates, I thought it might be a nice idea to have some dedicated carriers for both the Blue and Orange fleets. In fact, I started over completely and did some bigger mods. I hope to have some printed and assembled soon, so I can post the pics.

Oddly, it seemed much easier this time around...
