Non-standard angles really are going to require genuine, non-chunky styled "floating" walls, which are not mounted to the board, and are not going to make perfectly tidy mortered connections with other walls.

Note that on your drawing, the diagonal wall will be quite a bit thicker than the regular ones. Even more so when you add the "add-ons" to it. You could simplify things a little by making the diagonal approximately the same thickness as teh standard wall - that should allow you to get rid of the short addon as well (not a perfect fit, but I don't think anyone will complain).

Ok, time for some pics of my own. Here are three simple diagonal wall designs, all intended to fit directly with the existing wall ends:



a is a "thin" wall, that matches the ends of a standard wall exactly
b is a standard width diagonal wall, but doesn't match up perfectly
c is a compromise - standard thickness, but with a little bend at each end

d-e show how using a pillar between standard and diagonal walls helps ease the transition: it makes the difference in thickness between standard and "thin" walls less obvious, and it patches imperfect alignment between wall ends

f shows how the compromise wall from c looks in an extended diagonal section. Not perfectly straight, but doesn't look too bad.

Here's another cool piece to have for CD: a 1/8 circle curved wall on a 2x3 tile piece. Eight of those plus some small diagonals and you can build a pretty decent wizard's tower, covering a 10x10 square surface:



For a larger circular room, you can add one or more wall pieces in between each curve.

Honestly, any of the options are viable...it's just a matter of coming up with the one that best works for the needs of the largest (or just doing what works best for you, and then if others like it they can copy if they wish).

I know my option is a great deal more complex, and produces fatter walls....but it has the virtue of providing both a "quick" and a "quality" solution, as needed.

Several diagonals can be hammered out, and while a bit off-looking, will produce a functional, usable result immediately.

The columns make long diagonals possible, and seamless...also allowing diagonals to meet at a right angle. And they're useful just as columns.

The inserts are only needed if you want the walls to meet up smoothly, and can be added after-the-fact. The position of the core walls will keep them neatly into place (it's a self-locking configuration). Basically, those who want a "right" looking wall can put in the extra effort, while those who want a "quick" wall need not bother with printing and building them.


I like your circular solution, though it would be tricky to get to work out "just right".

As for a 30/60 wall...something similar to Conaill's circular solution would work, designed on a 2x3, and produce a "close" effect. Really, any sort of wall setup *can* be done with enough effort, though it's sometimes hard to know when to say when.

Here's one way you can do an intersection between four diagonal walls in my system:



Note that the cross piece is not actually all that complex - i just drew it the way I did to point out that you can make it look like the existing octagonal columns that are used to connect the standard walls.

If you want, you could simplify it even further, to the point where you just have a rectangular block for the intersection:

Here's some other option for making a diagonal intersection:



The first one using the existing pillar used for intersecting the standard walls. The second one requires a small one-square floating wall section - something you may have already or can trivially make from existing CD leftovers (I think this configuration may actually fit a door as well!). The third one uses a square cover that fits over the four wall ends.

All three of these would actually be easier to implement than the solution I suggested earlier. Personally, I like the middle one of the last three best.

A little off the topic of city walls, What is a castle without a chimney? So I made this one. My first attempt at kit bashing.

Mod Edit: I really hate to curb your enthusiasm, since it is a cool and well-done conversion, but as of yet posting of fan-created mods (the base files themselves, not pictures of the results) is against forum policy.
