So, ive been obsessing the last couple years about making a large scale labyrinth to test out the mechanics of several ideas ive had, crystals for upgrading on the fly, small jewels that grant spells similarly to a scroll, only they arent used up and various experimental race ideas and even give me a chance to get the hang of dming without having to create an excessive story line..
You guys have a lot of good kits on here, and I absolutely love the variety, however. You have several kits that if I applied them creatively I could get one such desired labyrinth, but I would much prefer a kit that has a more free style dungeon builders kit feel to it than most of the existing products offered.
When I noticed that suggestions and ideas were encouraged, I fugured why not ask and see. So, the idea I had was a set the included some form of flooring mat that allows for the builder to shape the dungeon as densely or loosely as they want and in any shapes they want. Provide several styles (seperately packaged) so that you can have a healthy selection from a fun and care free victorian hedge maze in the courtyard of some mansion the adventurers are visiting to an ominous and dimly lit labyrinth with walls of heavily enchanted adamantite. Each set having a full compliment of traps and props to match the style of the set (divided out into booster kits as seen fit).
The particular style I'm most interested in seeing as far as this is concerned is the adamantite, as my suggestion comes from the very theme I was wanting to build my test labyrinth from.
I have no idea if it will help my thought pass or not, but I would like to detail my use of such a kit and any props I could influence. The dungeon ive been hashing out (unsuccessfully, partly why I am looking to the world works community for the materials I am lacking to at the very least come as close to building as possible) is a trap of sorts, a three leveled and large scaled dungeon that for a story, is the creation of an imensly powerful being. The dungeon, though the trials it's denezens must forgo to survive, collects spent life force of those trapped inside and condenses it into a storable and useable crystal form. To keep prisoners from simply trying to smash their ways through, the walls are made from adamantite reinforced with such a degree of enchantments, the magical aura is visable with the naked eye, giving the wall the appearance of light reflected through a rippling pool of multicollored water. The labyrinth is also a lab of sorts where monsterous experiments using the crystals are preformed, allowing for encounters with unique forms of classic enemies such as skeletons and phantoms.
Unique prop ideas would include condensing tanks where large quantities of the crystal are formed as well as larger tanks can some times house enemies, crystal formations for areas where the crystals started to form on their own, with up to 6 different types. Standees for skeletons coated in a black layer of the crystals being manufactured, giving them significantly greater challenge ratings from the normal type, and phantoms that cling to the walls of the labyring and disquise themselves as shadows. I had thought about tanks that would melt down thr crystals so they could be used to enchant gear ,by bathing the equipment in the liquid, as you go through the dungeon
The end trial I wanted to do with this labyrinh was have a large, open room with a large scale, circular arena monster aperture from which a Tarrasque would emerge.
At any rate... any who share in the feeling there should at least be some form of free style dungeon builders kits?
