Denny, I purchased your VillageWorks set and was quite pleased with it. Here are some suggestions I have for a second, more Urban set, hence the Cityworks suggestion: New facades: Variety is good! How about an ashlar stone building, or a vertically timbered wood building? New roofs: Variety always helps. Also, you could include a patterns for making roofs on L-shaped buildings. Upper Class/Lower Class buildings: It would great to be able to create good and bad parts of town. You could have a well kept manor home on end of the scale, and a dilapidated tavern or dive house on the other Gables: These could be add-on pieces, just like the chimneys on the original village works set. They look great, and provide a lot of variety with just a little bit of effort (both your and ours). Steps: How about a step section for buildings with second-story entrances. For an exampel of what I mean, look at the Market Townhouse in the link below http://www.thewarstore.com/acatalog/Eur ... eries.html There are just a couple idea I've come up with, but just including these would already fill up an entire set. Does anyone else have some ideas along the same line? |

For starters, Wig, if you've the funds available...check out the Castleworks set. Included in there, alongside a very impressive tower, wall section, and gatehouse, is a large "courtyard house" that would work nicely as a manor, complete with a set of steps much like what you're asking about (and which, at least to me, look like they'd match up nicely with the second story of the modular Villageworks houses). |

Thanks for the heads up, Andorax. I acutally hadn't looked closely at Castleworks since I already have a castle to use on my tabletop. The manor house is pretty attractive, and I think I might pick it up this weekend. |

Once again I have to say, all great ideas! I’m really thankful to everyone on the forum for keeping them coming. While I can't tackle all of these concepts at once they are certainly cued up in the "stuff to get done" list ![]() |
