Now this IS interesting. I could see a "Fort Apache" style set as being a must have item. It might include: Wooden stockade walls a stckade gate U.S. Flagpole Wooden watch tower cannons a gatling gun a stable a barracks wagons both covered and uncovered a stagecoach smokehouse outhouse piles of logs (firewood) stacks of cannonballs barrels of blackpowder and liquer (XX) Ammo boxes Rails & a train A handcranked rail car log cabins A watering trough (with hand pump for water) and hitches for horses Western style town buildings with the facade front and the flat roof behind (saloon, brothel, church, jail & general store) For interiors (a lot of kit bashing could be done here): A rocking chair a franklin stove (iron) rifle racks A bar with a mirror (use aluminum foil for the mirror?) Table covered with cards and coins. and of course ... lots of boxes and crates. |

But start with the locomotive! (What, you think I want a steam engine that I will use for things other than a locomotive? What makes you think that? ) The Auld Grump |

Hmmm, there are a fair number of Wild West type games out there, now that I take a look. You may want to see if one of the companies would be interested in doing a product tie in. The Auld Grump... Through the high Sierra Mountains Came an S P passenger train The hoboes tried to ride her But found 'twas all in vain The conductor he took the tickets And he counted every soul; The engineer looked straight ahead And the fireman shoveled coal. Now, the fireman was a cowboy But do not think that strange He could make more money shoveling coal Than riding on the range So though he was a fireman And though he had to sweat He still remained a western guy And he kept his lariat The train was way behind time When suddenly ahead A little child strolled on the track And filled them all with dread Her golden hair in ringlets Was streamin' down her back. And she little knew of her danger grave As she strolled along the track "My gosh" the hog head shouted As he slammed on all the brakes "I'll never stop this DP train I ain't got what it takes" "O Heaven help that wee tot!" He cried in accents wild. "Can nothing stop this DP train And save the little child?" Up sprang that cowboy fireman And a gallant lad was he "Now I will save that baby If I wreck the whole DP" He climbed upon the running board With tears his eyes were wet And in his hand, our hero brave Bore his trusty lariat He dropped his loop around a pole That stood beside the track And tied the other end of it Around the big smokestack He jerked the train right off the rails And caused an awful wreck And our hero lay there in a ditch With the engine on his neck Oh we will all remember That forty-fifth of May For there were many gallant hearts All filled with fear that day They buried that poor fireman Where the prairie wind blows wild He killed two hundred passengers But, Thank God, He saved the child Cowboy Fireman Sorry 'bout that, still in a steam frame of mind... |

We definitely need a western town Denny! A basic core townset(TrainStation, Saloon/Hotel, Stables, Church/school) would be great. And everything else could be built around these staples. Taking a note from CWU - Buildings would be the interior/exterior sandwich fold. And optional Transparencies for windows. Also, some of the models could have the "level of complexity" variants. Some basic modular building types(maybe of 2-3varying sizes), stackable for that second story window to shoot from. With interchangable facades, awnings and porches to produce the various buildings and locales. (if possible) Signage for different storefronts, etc. And Upper balconies. Landmarks: details & (props) Train Station w/Platform (Barrels/Crates/Luggage) * - see expansion below Hotel(Saloon/Brothel?) - Raised front porch/steps, main room/stage/bar/stairs w/balcony?) Jail House - (sherrifs desk, barred windows, cells) General Store - (barrels, bench) Stables/Livery - 2-3 stories. Upperdeck Large front entrance. (Stalls & Hay) School House - grassy courtyard w/Tree & a swing?) Church/Cemetary - Townhall? (Pewes & pulpit, headstones) Bank - Front counter w/enclosed & barred windows, A Safe!) Usefull large props Gallows - typical 3-4 roped setup. Platform/Steps. (Lever to drop floor?) StageCoach Water tower - could work with TrainStation Simple Carriages - think Undertaker or Ice Carts. The one from Little House on the Prairie. Caskets, Crates, Boxes for use with Carriages & general details. authentic Rounded Casks or Barrels Trough Land Tiles I'm sure a gridless PaperLinx would work well. Tracks leading from station out of town (maybe a straight and a 45degree turn) Muddy/Dry wagon worn streets Grassy patched turf for School Yard/Cemetary/Mansion houses. Miscellanious Wanted Posters and/or various signage Laundry & clothes lines _____________________________________________________________ for Expansion: (allowing for a little Mining town to a Dodge City) Trainstationcould be it's own expansion: - Ticket Booth - Engine w/basic coal/passanger/supply cars?) - Mountain Tunnel Entrance facade(for train tracks) - Land Tiles - Tracks leading from station out of town (maybe a straight and a 45degree turn) - Land tile depicting a deep valley span where bridge crosses (optional destroyed) - Water Tower [props] Luggage, Passenger Car Benches, Tranparent windows] War is afoot expansion - Mexican style Buildings - villas (think many, many Spaghetti Westerns) - Small Fort & Wall fortifications(?), low walls - Garrison - Boot Hill - Land Tiles - Alternates [props] - Cannons, Different Well, Canopies, food carts, ladders Big City Post/Telegraph Office - maybe just a facade for other buildings Courthouse - just a nice large, stately building Doctors Office/Hospital (house?) Mansion Firehouse ClockTower either addon for roof or own building. [props] Street lamps, Benches, [buggies - fire cart] This old town Outhouses - complete with crecent moon...! Sheds/Shanites/Shacks - could be used to make homes, bandits hideouts, etc. Smithy - could go along with Stables started foundations for building being built. Brige(s) (covered) crossing the creek into town Well - Roof & draw bucket Old Mine Entrance ideas that didn't make it in the CORE set. -PHew! I'm spent. Floyd ps. I have some Whitewash buildings. They are servicable at best. I've seen the guys artwork, he put minimal effort into his buildings. (No offense, I do like them & his artwork) |
