Post subject: | Heroclix 3d barriers |
i posted a link a while back showing another guys work on heroclix barriers made out of foam...but it got yanked because it was "promoting" other work or something like that. who am i to argue?! anyway, i think it would awesome if there was a kitbash download made available, with all the heroclix barriers. i already have the fire things that came with BoM, but the bases are either too small or too big to fit on a square directly...plus they are a little short to really look like "barriers". i cant think of them all, but i know some of the barrier tokens include: fire, ice, mystic power (purplish magic stuff), earth, green lantern wall type thing, smoke cloud. anyway, this would be a very simple kitbash, as all it would require is making the base the scale of heroclix (1 1/4"?) and each standee thing would be about double the height of the current fire tile available in BoM. but have graphics for smoke, fire, earth, etc. any takers? |

I'm sure Bob will have this done before dinner time. For the fire, you could resize the existing ones, since the texture shouldn't look out of place if warped a bit. To better fill the square, you could modify it to produce an X pattern with two fires crossing over each other... even add a circular base to hold it in position. A smoke version shouldn't be too hard to do either. I can't work on this right now, but if noone else picks it up, I'll see what I can do. Arabin |

yeah i mean, it SEEMS like a super easy thing to do since all im really asking for is some simple graphics slapped on the front of a resized already existing prop. but then again....i suck at photoshop type stuff, so thats why im requesting it ![]() |

Unrealistically impatient. You do realize that even if someone did this today, it'd take a month or so before it appeared as a kitbash. There is a queue ![]() I'm not sure I understand all the things you want. I can imagine doing the fire in the cross pattern as I mentioned, and should be able to make a smoke one too, but what else are you after? Arabin |

AT first I thought all your needs were met with the Mayhem stuff but then I read further were you really stated what you wanted. There are other products on the market that meet this, but being a loyal world works fan you would like it to come from WWG. I think there is a definitely niche for these types of items from WWG. You want barriers such as smoke, purple haze (from magic or other source), etc. It might help the powers to be if you were to list out all of the ones you could think of and maybe PM some sketches to Denny. Just a thought. CCotD' |

Good point, it would certainly be better as an official release with much higher quality. The company you mention that does the plastic ones is impressive, but they are not cheap, and when they break you have to buy more. If WWG produced a 3D effects pack it would probably sell very well as it's easy to print more when you need it. Arabin |

yeah, and maybe thats the reason why i am so impatient because it wouldnt take long at all if i had any photoshop skills. oh and the plastic ones you refer to are not what im talking about. these are fan made barriers from foam and spray painted. they look fantastic, but id be afraid of them chipping or breaking. and you are right, id rather purchase from WWG because i know of the quality. and of course if they break, it takes all of 2 minutes to make more. WWG could release a "visual effects" or "environmental effects" pack, which could be used in all sorts of games. you could have markers for: - explosions - smoke - fire - magic (purple haze) - water barriers - earth barriers - green lantern wall barriers id love to post the pics of what ive found, but i got in trouble for doing that last time. |

It could be expanded to not only include 3D effects, but also simply effect counters with nice WWG styling. Things like: Out of ammo Stunned Prone Kneeling Gun Jam etc. You might run into a need for Fantasy and Sci-fi options, but for the most part I see this release as something like the super cool . What do you think, Denny, could we get something like this? Arabin |

I made some rough models of what I talked about. A fire barrier one: The forest one: http://wwgallery.pcinfoman.com/displayi ... ?pos=-4565 I think that it might look better on a transparency. That would allow the figures to be seen through the gaps in the trees. Alternately I think that it should be shorter. A 1.5 base would probably look better than this 1" version. You cannot really see the figures. I should have included a little more room around the figure. Maybe 1.25 instead of exactly 1". Edit: I tried to put in images instead of links but 2nd wouldn't work |

that fire one is really cool. i could see that working for adventure gaming....but that wont work for heroclix. barriers in heroclix allow you to pick 4 adjacent squares to your character (can be diagonal) and you can place them anywhere. so i guess you COULD just close yourself up, but usually i build a wall or something like it. thats why i need individual standees. |

1" would be really good for those of us who use 1" area effects in other games too ![]() Since Deathreaver999 is on this, I'll paint some Kroot tonight instead of working on these. |

These will be awesome. FYI, this may be helpful for getting really good fire effects. |
