Here's a that has a bunch of characters, like Astro Boy, and some robots. One's got a coffee cup for a head! Gotta love quirky Japanese goodness! ![]() |

Aleph, go through the forums at Mel's site. You'll see many pics that show the pieces in action, mod discussions, and some great examples of his UCM work. I believe Mel also states why there is not a Mac version of UCM. |

I really didn't give much thought to updating my post, since I originally posted it so long ago. I do indeed like Mel's models, but I was looking for more mecha, less tanks, jeeps, etc. That's not to say the Mel's stuff isn't good, but I was thinking more RoboTech/BattleTech.... I do have some builds of Maginot that a friend of mine did out in my game room (it stinks being the storage facilty, but then again I can use the models with any group I play with...) and I really like it... And his color-schemes rock, since they are user adjustable with his prog.... |

i'd love to see a [diaroma] or specific theme area for First Light or some scifi architecture. Such as a hanger bay or some such with Mel's builds and Dennys moody texturing and photo lighting. I was thinking of some Mechs tucked away in a hanger bay and most areas are bathed in shadow. But a couple of artifical light streams set up in the bays above the mechs would cast the moody cool lighting down onto the tops and edges of the metal behemoth. The very outter edges of the light just catching the hoses, cables and detrious on the floor extending away from the mech. Off in some corner a small computer station when a soft green glow emiting from the screens onto the metal counter. Maybe a few shadowy maint.vehicles off in the distances. I'm dreaming, i know. But I'll be damned if I can't picture it in detail already. I'd pay the price of a whole set for a piece like that. Probably more. -Floyd |

Highland_Piper, your first two links under "some more" lead to a must-register-to-view page, so you know. That huge one is a marvel of cardstock engineering. I'd love to see what it'd look like with some texturing! Here's an idea of what I was fantasizing about in the way of giant mechs. I want something in the scale of for the PS2! See the tiny character standing at the tip of the arm? The levels all involve some monstrous behemoth that you have to scale and defeat! An RPG scenario based on that would be... well, I don't have the words to describe what it would be, but it would be whatever it was, that's for sure. ![]() |

I tell you what, let me get my old books out of storage and look, and then, if there is, I can fill you in and maybe we can kitbash some. Mostly, I was thinking of mech hoists, elevator platforms, two-level mech bays, fire-fighting equipment, fueling tractors. If you don't do it to the scale of the old metal BattleMech minis, you could make one for the new Dark Age models by Wizkids. Either way, that crossed my mind when reading this thread - "Need Dropship." |
