Hi,
Although I have been lurking on the forum for a while, I have finally bitten the bullet and purchased a few Mayhem sets for zombie gaming.

Still need to purchase supplies like foam board and sow card stock looking forwards to the gaming but not so sure about construction. :)

To speed things up, I am hoping to employ an automatic cutter.

My question is one regarding choice of cutters. Rather than the usual craft cutters like the Robocutter, I have access to a friend's semi professional cutter, a Roland GX 24. acfrind has one he employs in apparel decoration, contour cutting t shirt transfers and vinyl cutting for vehicle wraps. The cutter has an optical eye.

So, the automatic cutter files, are they only for graphtec cutters? Or can the Roland cutter use it as well? Or will I have to generate my own contour cutting files?

Chris Roe is probably the one who can give you the most info on this. From what I understand, you would almost certainly have to make your own cutting file for a non ROBO Master or Silhouette Studio compatible machine. If you can use those programs with the machine you have , then you should be good (but I doubt they will be compatible) If you cant use them, you may be able to convert the .gsd files to a format that can be used by your friends cutter, although I suspect it may need almost as much work to convert, as it would to just make the cut file from scratch :)
Hopefully Chris can chime in with some more info if he has it, but if you do try, let us know how you get on..and good luck!

All of our cutting files require ROBO Master or Silhouette Studio to open, so you'd need to use a cutter that can be driven by either software package. For the moment, that means only Graphtec Craft ROBO cutters, rebranded versions of same, and Silhouette-series cutters.

We targeted those cutters specifically because they're more within the means of the typical hobbyist than professional plotters are, they have ability to do print-and-cuts with a minimum of fuss, and their file formats fit nicely into our existing software suite. :)

Looks like I am going to have to work out my own cutter files if I want to play with the Roland. My friend makes it look simple enough when doing his transfers, so here's hoping that is the case.

Out of curiosity, the cutter files, besides cutting, do they also score the card for folds? I assume yes would be the answer, but wanted to confirm.
