Anyone else have the new ratchet blade? or a good source for the old blade if the new ones don't work out. i picked up some of the new blades but have yet to use them much, so far they can cut thicker stuff very well (at slower speeds) but i have been hearing murmers that they are having trouble. the price of the new one is nice, given you get the blade + holder for about the same cost as the old blade (online anyway). makes me wonder if they have cut quality some where Edit: forgot the word "price" |

Had mine working for about a month, seems to work fine. I haven't tried anything thinker than 110# cardstock. |

I have an SD. I use a home-made carrier sheet (I saved several laminated maps from a finished project, I stick the model to the carrier with a Scotch reusable glue stick), the blade works with no issues (the SD is set to Load Media, the Silhouette Studio is set for 'carrier sheet' and 110lb cardstock). It also works fine if I stick the model to scrap cardstock instead (old report covers), but since that's thinner I have to dial the depth down or it cuts through both the model and the carrier sheets. |

I use the new dial cutter and found it great, strongly recommended. My card stock is 210 and found a setting 4 (plus 1 to recommendation) works best. i have cut a VT-3 Pinzgauer and found the cutting great. My old blade was tearing the card stock on car wheels, found the cutter( old colour SD) had a bit of glue on the tip. Cleaned and it cuts OK but I prefer the new dial cutter. At least I have a spare. I use my own plastic carrier sheets made from PVC report covers. (recommended on this site somewhere, many thanks). Generally I get at least 200 card stock cut before i need to replace. Main wear is on the edge. Funny thing is the cutter cuts through the glue on the carrier sheet but not through the sheet. You do end up with some funny patterns in the glue. |
