Hi, I have just bought a silhouette cameo, as well as a few sets of terrain to build. I was really excited to start making some tiles. I made a photoshop template to place the cameo registration mark, and everything seemed like it was going to work. But when I cut the large tile, I see that its actually outside the cut range of the registration. was this not an issue on the SD and only on the cameo? Its not a deal breaker, as I can cut the rest myself with a knife, but I was wondering if anyone had a workaround for it? or maybe I am missing something? |

It's not a cameo issue - there's a limited area that is safe for cutting, and 6" tiles just can't fit as-is. A little manual cutting seems preferable to other options that chop the tile into smaller bits. |

Welcome to the forums! I do not have a Cameo, but wanted to say the community here is very helpful. If there is a workaround, someone here probably knows it. Good luck and happy modeling! Hope to see some of your builds. |

Wow that was a fast response! Thanks for the welcome! I have the PSD file for the template. I couldn't find one anywhere so I made one. Would anyone be interested in the file? I can post it on my public dropbox for people to download if they want. I had a few more questions regarding materials, should I start a new thread, or should I ask here? Well I will ask anyways here, hehe. I bought the Wassau 110 lb cardstock on amazon, and it seems to be ok, but the print quality looks muddy or washed out. is there a similar heavy cardstock that has better print quality? Also, I am using gel glue for scrapbooking I got at Micheal's. its easy to apply with the sponge tip, but its seems to warp the card stock a bit. What is the best glues to use for building the sets with? Thanks for any input guys! |

Welcome! Bring on the pics! Since I was called out, I will defend the Matte Presentation Photo Paper. I used plain old cheap cardstock for years and moved to the photo paper almost a year ago. I will not be going back. The quality difference is to great for me. I would rather wait to build something and save up than to save the cost difference. At the same time, I say try out what you are comfortable with. The biggest piece of advice I can give is start small and go from there. Build enough to add to an encounter at your table. Then build enough to fully flesh out an encounter. Then do that repeatedly with encounters as needed. Eventually you will build up the stamina to do massive builds...but don't jump into them right away. When I did that back in the day, I got overwhelmed. I now do assembly style building, but I can afford to since I have enough built terrain to suffice as a proxy if I don't finish a special build in time. |

I just recently got into making RPG items from cardstock, and found a competitor's product, which prompted me to search for more, and eventually came up here. I was impressed, so I bought 5 sets and the software. We have a Silhouette Cameo and the upgraded software. My question, since the 6" tiles won't completely work on a standard 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper, how about using a wide-format printer. This has more than enough space. Any interest/ideas/help here? Since the Silhouette Cameo can cut 12"x24", through whatever magic it may take, the registration marks could be moved, providing enough room for a full-size 6" tile. I don't know what it would take, but probably something like editing the PDF, changing the paper size, moving the tile, as well as the registration marks. Yea, not likely, but I am going to try! I'll give it a try and let you know (probably quite quickly<grin>) how miserably I failed. BoomerET Update: Editing the GSD is simple enough, now the problem appears to be editing the PDF. And that would have to be done for every set, ouch. |

I don't know for sure if you can force the Cameo to cut outside the registration marks, but my guess would be no. Still trying to work something out. BoomerET |

ehisey, Thanks for opening my eyes... After some trying, playing, failing... I printed some 6x6, cut them with the Silhouette Cameo, and came to the realization why was I bothering trying to fix something that's not broken. 4 quick cuts with the x-acto of the lines that are outside the Print & Cut and it's done. Color me one happy BoomerET! |

I actually found a setting in silhouette studio to cut to edge of paper, but when I tried it, it still didn't cut outside the reference marks for Print & Cut. (When you go to cut, you'll find a link for changing blades or something like that. Lots of extra options there) Must be for something else. BoomerET |
