As I work on my Swampwoods conversion, I ran into the fact that the walls for the huts are bigger than the cutting area. Rather than give up and do them manually, I re-oriented the piece so that all of the hard cuts were within the appropriate area, leaving me two fast, straight cuts and a small score. The two little lines (one red, one blue) are in my master template so that I don't forget to change the line settings on output. |

Here's the cut-out piece. I'm not ready to print my whole build out yet, but I wanted to make sure this would work edit: note that the autotrace did the mask well enough to leave the rope bindings complete when it cut out the windows. The resolution is nice. |

Nice. I was wondering how to tackle that myself. So far, I've only had to remove a model or two from a sheet to get it all to fit within the boundary, but I've been looking through my sets and have seen a few single models that look like they won't fit. Never would have thought of mostly-cutting them with the digital cutter and finishing up with a few hobby knife cuts. Great idea. Yeah, those ropes in the window/door frames look awesome. That's one of those things that tends to get hacked smooth when I cut by hand. |
