Hang in there. Mine spent a week spitting. If you have the Silhouette SD, there's a front panel setting on the machine where you can toggle the carrier sheet. Make sure it is set properly. How tacky is your carrier sheet? It shouldn't be possible to slide your cardstock. Frankly, you should get a can of EZ Tack and just go straight to the 'make carriers out of cardstock' phase. You'll be at it soon anyway, the included carrier didn't make it out of the second week with me. Again if you have the Silhouette SD, ignore anything the manual tells you about where to position the sheet and just center between the rollers. Hopefully some of that helps! loyd |

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't put it on a carpeted floor. The sheet needs a smooth surface to move back and forth on during cutting. Also make sure you give it plenty of room in the back, too. What you're describing probably can't happen to most of us, because we're not using the stiff plastic carrier sheet that comes with the machine. I can see how if the plastic sheet hit the carpet, the rollers might lose traction and start spinning in place, causing it to turn and get off. If my carrier sheet hit the carpet, it would just bend/kink the sheet. Look at the underside of your plastic carrier sheet - did the rollers dig into it a little? The bottom metal rollers on my machine have some cross-hatching that grips the sheet. I suspect it lost its grip on your sheet because of the combination of its stiffness and the carpet not letting it move. My suggestions would be to (A) provide a smooth, open area for the cutter to operate on, and (B) ditch the plastic carrier sheet and go with 110 lb cardstock and spray tack instead. |

Okay, of course I check the settings, they're exactly what you say they should be, and so this time, when I run it through, even though I didn't change anything, it cut like a champ. I guess I just hadn't glared at it enough or something. Thanks again for all the help, now if I could just figure out how to get my foam core to fit in the thing, life would be perfect. |
