I'd love a robocutter, but I don't think my girlfriend is ever going to let me blow a couple/few hundred bucks on one. Are there any places where one can bring a bunch of printouts and pay for the use of a robocutter, just like you can go to Staples and pay for printouts/photocopies? I'd say gaming shops could probably cash in on such a business, except that I bet they make more money off selling punch-out cardboard models than they would make allowing customers to robocut their own printed models.

As for finding a place that might sell machine cutting services... I've never heard of such a thing. It's a remarkably niche business. It's not an error-free process, or hands-off process either, so it's not like you can batch up a bunch of pages and know it's all gonna come out A-Ok. Keeping the blades fresh, too, is kind of a pain in the butt... I've seen some people make a go selling pre-printed and pre-cut models, though the margins must be tight, and as soon as something went wrong with the high-end printer, the whole business model went kaput.

My wife was skeptical of the value of the machine cutter - I ended up splitting the cost with a couple family members who wanted gift ideas for me. Shortly after using it, I was able to find some little projects that made her life easier -- I designed 50th anniversary cards for her parents, I designed some business card displays for her, etc. I think she now accepts my papercraft hobby as a 'skill' that she'd otherwise have to pay someone for, which works out well for me.

check and see if there is a MakerSpace near you. I am working to help get one set up here in central NY state, and one of the things I am going to put on the list of things to get is a robocutter. We already have a CNC router, and a digital printer, along with full wood shop and machine shop, so a couple hundered bucks to cut cardstock might nit be too much to ask.

Many/most "hacker" spaces (near me is a TechShop) have lasercutters which may be an alternative, depending on the paper you want cut and the specific item. Laser cutters I've used, don't have registration mark detection though....
