i know there is no complete sets but anything would help i have an SD coming this week and was going to start with TerrainLinX but after finding Wormhole i want to do that fist i also have 2 30"X 40" sheets of black foam board i got to day for TerrainLinX but is what i need for wormhole. so if there are any files out there let me know plz

I second this request. This is definately the one I would most like GSD files for, out of all the pre-tlx sets.

This set really isn't pre-TLX...it is its own entity that really doesn't lend well to TLX.

But yes, GSD would be good. I have not downloaded Wormhole yet as I am waiting for another fleet to be added. As soon as there are two fleets, I am going to go on a binge-build so that I have something tangible to convince my group to play with. GSD would make a binge build a LOT more efficient.

Well, I don't know if it helps when more people show their interest in the GSD files. But I AM interested, no matter what

The main problem with making GSD's for older sets is the work involved. You would have to reformat every page to get the parts to fit into the registration lines. You can't just make GSD's from the current pdf's and just run them through as is.

So you are looking at hours for reformatting, then several hours rebundling them and hope you don't loose any image quality, then many hours creating the GSD's, testing each page.

Now you have a different version of the same product. And everyone would probably have to be charged again for it which would cause lots of moaning from many people. I sympathise with the concept of "But I already purchased it" But now your looking at someone giving up over a week (or one solid one) of their time for this.

I'm not saying it won't get done or not be offered in the future. I know once exams are over I will have a bit of time on my hands and will probably make them for personal use. My old fleet got squashed when a heavier box got placed on top of their box.

Anyways, don't take this as a negative post I just wanted to let everyone know a part of what might happen if they are offered.

I understand about giving away free work (Like rebuilding the whole set and letting people re-download it), but maybe there is another way... Tie it in to the release of the new set, maybe. I'm sure Denny has records of who bought wormhole in the first place. Let them re-downlaod updated files for free when they buy the new set or something. Those who didn't buy yet would automatically get the GSD set when they do purchase.

And frankly, if the new set is going to include more command trays and tokens and that sort of thing, you are already building about half the GSDs anyway, right?

I tried to do this work on some more important parts of some sets I can see where you (or someone else) has to go to get this work done. And I see the sets I bought up to now as paid, and the creation of an updated "GSD supported set" as work that has to be paid, of course.

But even more I see the logistical problem to get new customers buy a GSD version of a set and old customers buy a kind of upgrade for a lesser price (which I would find a fair solution for all sides - and let the people moan for having to paid "again" if they just don't see the point).

At this part I guess it is time to say "Thank you" in the first place. WWG, I love your designs, the innovation and the ideas. And I didn't think the sets are too expensive, seeing what I can do with them.

I am in no way suggesting the sets are too expensive. They are great. As a matter of fact I don't game any more. I buy the sets and I build them and I dream about gaming on them. I bet that's a pretty common theme in paper modelling. Lots of us former gamers that no longer have time, but love to hearken back. WWG is theperfect soluion. Buildwhen time is avaolable abd eam when it is not. t is inexpesive enough to buy without feeling guilty, and intricate enough to fulfil those dreams.

All the same, I am LOVING my Silhouette sd. So much so, that I am not sure I want to go back to cutting all those little spaceships again.

I don't know what the market is for it, but again, I would really like to have GSD files for these guys. I would buy them all over again if I had to. I'm just saying that of all the sets Worldworks makes, this is the one I would like GSDs for. I can live with cutting the rest, because I won't make nearly so many of them.

And by the way, I do realize that Wormhole is not terrainlinx COMPATIBLE. But GSD support begain with terrainlix and Wormhole is the only set prior to that support that I really want included.

I would buy it again. I wish others would, too, but I know that disposable income is hard to come by nowadays. Maybe we should make a poll or come up with some other way to monetize it. It's not worth it to Denny if he's only going to get my $15-$20 again.

Its not really a question of the money but of the time to get the files reformatted and new GSD's created for it. We're just spread way too thin at the moment.

On that note, I would hope that the next fleet is already GSD compatible upon release so it won't need to be revisited.

It is. I have formatted almost all of the parts to be within cutting margins and we are working on GSD files for all of the parts. There are only a few parts that just would not fit within the margins, but most of those are one time builds anyways.

Piper - I can appreciate the amount of time and effort you have put in while formatting all the GSD files for the various WWG products. I would not expect anyone to go back through all the old products just to create GSD files for a few of us lazy people who would rather watch an infallible machine do our work for us. My question is, where can we find the information necessary to create our own GSD files for existing products. With the overall quality of WWG products, I do not object to paying for a new update of an existing model, IE Thoumont's, Mayhem, etc., but there are a few models I would like to create GSD files for that I know WWG may never go back and update. Can you point me in the right direction so I can figure out how to get started?

I bought Wormhole when it released, studied the rules with excitement, and printed out enough to make a fleet... but after assembling hand-cutting the first ship realized how BIG this task was going to be, so it sits waiting for enough "spare time" to embark upon the project. I still think it's a great game and look forward to actually playing it someday.

Then last September, when the Silhouette prices came down and with someone here in the forums 80% done with the GSD files for it, I bought a Silhouette in anticipation of his completing the project and the files becoming available. Then came the confusion about user-created GSD files and he disappeared in frustration... and of course no further work on Wormhole GSD files has been since. So my Silhouette sits still in the box, never opened; and Wormhole still sits waiting "spare time".

I'd GLADLY and WILLINGLY pay even full price again for Wormhole with GSD files. It's the only way I'm going to ever have a chance to get Wormhole built up.

Someday I still hope to find the time to make GSD files for myself... but maybe that's more work than just hand cutting 100 ships. So maybe Wormhole will never get built. It would be a shame. But spare time for this large of a paper modeling project is just too rare these days. Maybe I’ll get a chance when/if I retire.

I have been working on converting a lot of my older cardstock models to machine cut, as I know a lot of folks are. What I find, is that it takes about as long to make the cutter file, as it does to hand cut the actual model. The advantage being off course, that once a .gsd file is made, you can cut as many of that model as you please.

I took a look at Wormhole again after you posted this, and It does not look like it would take much work to convert, so I shall give it a try and see how it goes

From the posted rules about conversions, Im going to have to do this just for personal use, in no way do i wish to tread on Denny's or anyone else's toes here. I will post any problems that I come up against, and overall impressions of the process tho...for folks who want to try converting it themselves.
So far I see a few frames of the trays that are a bit big, and one frame of the carrier which may not fit..Everything else looks pretty straight forward.

Wormhole is a bit of a different beast respective to our conversion rules as they currently exist. This really comes down to the ships. If you can convert and reformat all of the ships for GSD friendly cutting we'd be happy to roll that back into the core product. We'd love it if game-aids got the same treatment but we wouldn't expect anyone to suffer through that conversion process.

The ships..apart from needing 2 cuts on the sidewalls of the carrier will be no real problem. I shall certainly be converting them.
I looked at the game aids, and did not see much that would be difficult to convert...Except for the Command Trays...as I mentioned above.

I shall keep folks posted then.

Okay...Work on the conversion is going well...All the ships are done...just need testing. Most of the Game Aids are done. The TOS units are done. My main concern whilst converting has been to leave the original parts from the pdfs intact..and bar the Carrier I have managed to do that so far
That leaves the Command trays to do, and I have a question.
I am not going to do a machine cut for anything that needs mounting on foamcore..I think thats just a waste of effort.
Some of the parts of the Command trays are simple cuts by hand, and too long to fit inside the cutting bed without splitting the part.

Should I machine cut the sides of the part that can be cut?...or just leave those few parts for hand cutting ? Two of the parts...(The back of the trays) I do not want to split into parts

The Command trays are the only parts where I have not been able to resolve any cutting area issues

Please let me know what your preferences are folks.

My personal feeling, if there is any value in that, is that I wouldn't bother with machine cutting the large console parts -- the BIG win is the large number of repetitive ships and such. For the large console pieces, even with a .gsd for them, I probably would just hand cut them anyway.

In a similar vane, I fully agree with no .gsd for parts that will be foam mounted -- just a waste of time.

Ok folks...The .gsd files are done, everything is cleaned up and the .pdf's are repackaged as close to the origionals as I can
All I need to do now is test all the files , print cut and build.

I didnt rush this...i figure that the folks at WWG are not gonna even look at anything non TCP until after the convention

Its not a totally knife free conversion...some of the parts that involve fold over sandwich folds still benefit from leaving a small tag of card along the fold..just to help alignment of the fold, I tried to make these as small as I could whilst still being functional, but easy to cat away

Likewise some of the foldovers for tokens I have left a few long cuts to make...so that we are not gluing 50 million token parts together after the machine cuts them all out.

All in all , I think what I have done works, I guess i need to check with Aubrey about what comes next

Wormhole is one of the WW purchases I haven't done ANYTHING with just because of the cutting. My wife is buying me an SD for Christmas.

Any update on these? It's been a full year since Solospirit posted "they're done", but haven't heard ANYTHING more since then.
