As i'm from the UK, our foamcore is 5mm thick, so i have started working on the Generic Floor GSD files, changing then so the sides are 5mm tall.

I've been using 5mm PVC board and I've not had a single problem with any more my tiles yet.

I just realised how snooty that sounds. That is not how I meant it, did you have a problem with the standard tiles? What kind of difference are you finding between using 5mm and the standard?

I was not having problems, it was just that the score lines where in the wrong place for the 5mm foamcore.

I was just making them neater..

I think the standard WWG size is 3/16" or something like that.

Now the big question. Have you placed the original WWG cuts with 5mm next to your cuts at 5mm, if so was there any build problems?

i did not have any issues as i re-scored the first bases i cut out to match the 5mm thick foamcore, i made these GSDs so i would not have to do that and also that the flaps on the underside did not overlap.

There is a small difference in thickness between the std base height in inches and the 5mm foamcore we get in the UK. It's not much but it does mean that you have to watch your construction as the edges on the top surface can be pushed up. I think the boards still fit together ok BUT the tabs that hold the walls end up at a slight angle. I've not built to much with it yet so I'm not sure how it will turn out.

I have thought that you could glue a square card to the top of each bit of cut foam core and the tabs would still work fine. However, I'm trying to make it easy and more gluing just adds time.

For now I might just glue the tops, let them dry and then fold the edges round and glue them as a second step.

Were you aware that the original sizing was speced for 1/4 inch tile. While most of the builds are done on 3/16 tiles? The tiles are designed to work with up to a 1/4 inch and down to, based Highland Pipers comment down to 5mm. 5mm is not that much smaller than 3/16 th.

Side bonus of building to stock score lines is that when ever the pre-made tiles get release, you can use them interchangeably with hand builds.

I've found I have the same issues doing the Dwarven Halls build, you can actually see the edges of the floor tiles pushed up slightly in the photos in that thread.

Yes, but not when you already have a large stock of tiles using 5mm foamcore-replacement with custom scores. Besides, I set myself up with some tools to cut the stuff I use a little easier, so I'll probably stick to it anyway.
