in the meantime, one could always whip up a flat, hatch counter to put on the board -- one counter for a closed hatch and one for an open one. |

Switching out one TLX floor tile for another in the middle of play seems difficult to me in regards to 'dismantling' part of the build [messing with the connectors]. Possible alternate temporary functional option would be the "open hole" approach: 1) Take a standard floor tile with a centered 2x2 floor hatch. 2) Cut a physical hole through the whole foamcore at the hatch. This allows a usable access through the floor located in the interior area of the tile so it does not interfere with the TLX connector holes, nor detract from the structural stability of the tile by still allowing an inch of tile between the open hatchway and all the connector holes. *Don't forget to add extra edging to avoid infamous 'whiteout' showing. 3) Place (DO NOT GLUE) an overlay print copy of the original floor on top to simulate hatch in closed position. [6x6 floor tile without edges or bottom glue flaps] Remove overlay when hatch is 'opened'. You could otherwise use a smaller 1x1 access hatch in any of the 4 center squares. Granted, this method would be impossible to use for a 3x3 tile.... |
