Sorry if this has been asked or discussed before, but are there plans to release the Malifaux Terraclips (Streets, Sewers, Buildings) designs as TLX PDF's?

They pretty much already are. Look in the TLX area under Thoumonts, Himmelveil Streets and Himmelveil Sewers.

Oh, but they aren't! Look CLOSELY at them. They're definitely different sets - I don't know if there are textures in Thoumont's that don't appear in TCP Buildings, but I'm pretty certain there are textures in TCP Buildings that aren't in my Thoumont's TLX pdfs.

Ok. I know you said 'pretty much', but I hope hope hope that TLX and TCP converge in a way that won't cause one or the other (mostly TLX, since that's where my interests are) to suffer either through scheduling conflicts or lack of content one way or the other.

And to really further emphasize which *genre* of *TLX* I am pushing for...

The textures for Mailifaux were done for Wyrd, so I don't expect to see those exact textures released in the TLX line.

I wouldn't be surprised not to see them either, but being done for Wyrd doesn't preclude making them in TLX format, right? (unless they've already come out with an anti-TLX stance) I'm working off the assumption that not all TCP releases will be Malifaux, and working with Wyrd doesn't have to mean only TCP products - just that they teamed up for the current sets in TCP format.

Personally, I have no issue with having a set of tiles that are TLX exclusive (6" walls with a door in the middle, for example), and some that are TCP exclusive (6" walls with the door to the side). I would like to see some of the functionality from the TCP releases built into TLX boosters (more wide stream sewers, 3x3 and 3x6 road endcaps), and an official TLX conversion for TCP do-it-yourselfers like myself (mostly just making an anchorless version of everything and popping it in a TCP template for tiles, and a mix-and-match setup for walls/connector posts).
And I still need to test to see if TCP works with standard TLX and not just the kitbashes I've put together.

All TerraClips materials & textures are 100% new creations specifically designed for that format. Due to licensing and various other concerns there are no plans to convert those materials to the TerrainlinX standard.

That being said, we intend on continuing to support the TerrainlinX line with unique settings.

Aw man. Well, thanks for clearing that up at least. This is kind of saddening, though I understand why it would be that way. It's just that in reality it means your attentions will *have* to be divided between two formats, and unless you're doubling your staff, it'll *have* to mean producing less of each format. I didn't realize that TCP was going to be so exclusive. I was actually hoping this would be a way to speed UP the creation of TLX sets. Now I am imagining the TLX line as being a second class citizen to the tangible product line. Is this how people felt about TLX when it was the new kid on the block, and they were invested in the classic sets?

I don't want to whine and moan and come across as feeling like I'm entitled to something. At the heart of it, I really hope TCP *is* a killer product for you so all the WWG folks can make a healthy living making more cool stuff. I'll be trying to support you guys whatever you end up making, even if it's just buying scenic encounters designed for TCP sets I don't own. It's just that my first choice would be more awesome TLX sets!

I really wouldn't worry about that too much man, out of 11 things on the WIP meter 7 are TLX. I think they are pretty much behind that format! Keep your chin up!

I'm just feeling sorry for myself. I don't doubt that at least currently TLX will continue to grow. But, it *does* mean that attention has to get divided between two platforms. I know this stuff takes time to put together, so to know that there's something that will slow the process down further...

I'm a fantasy-setting kind of guy, so when I look at the list, all I see is that there's only one TLX !

You know what it is? The WWG guys are working fast and furious to do their stuff, and they're crankin' as fast as they can. But to some schmuck lurking on the forums every day, the seconds tick by like days. For them, they're probably doing what they can as fast as they can, but when you're on the outside waiting, it feels like I've been thinking "where's my TLX caves?" for ages.

Then again, it's not like I even own all of the TLX fantasy sets that already exist... I'm trying to catch up! Clearly what I need to do is NOT have the WWG forums as my browser home page. This weekend I'll clear off my papercrafting table (my wife has had me making more papercraft items for her parent's upcoming anniversary party...) and pick up the Cliffs set - that'll distract me for a while and stop me from wallowing in my non-terraclips-ness.

For what it's worth, that isn't actually the case. The bulk of TerrainLinx development is being done by Matt, Paul, Tomas, Bob, and others. Denny is handling the next round of Terraclips sets, and he's temporarily offloading the administrative duties to me so he can focus on content creation. That doesn't affect *my* workload as much as it would seem because I've been semi-retired from model design for over a year anyway, and everything I've released here is either an old catalog item from the Ebbles days or something I did during my breaks/days off.

So, Terraclips isn't actually taking any manpower resources away from TerrainLinx.



Oh, I assure you that TLX is *far* from being a second-class citizen. If it were, we wouldn't have so many TerrainLinx products in the pipeline, and we certainly wouldn't be devoting so much of our staff resources to TerrainLinx products.
