When I use paper for my D&D games, I use flat terrain under a sheet of Lexan - so until recently, I avoided TLX, which seems dependent on the floor terrain. I just built quite a bit of Hinterland forest (including the free-standing wall), but wanted to see if I could make the TLX posts work for me. I really like the idea of quick-build walls. Below see how I constructed free standing posts out of 1.5 thicknesses of foamboard and some bases I kit-bashed out of the terrain tiles. If there is enough interest, I might be convinced to take the time to share my cut files and write up some instructions for an official kitbash (if invited to do so.) But the photos below (updated as I make changes at http://photobucket.com/tlxposts) should be sufficient for anyone who wants to try this technique on their own. The only photo I didn't take was of the bottom - I glued another layer of cardstock on the bottom for extra strength and to provide more surface area to glue the foamboard post interior. I cut the foamboard to 5/8" x 2" and glued a 1/2 layer of foamboard to that for about 3/8" thickness. Just the right amount of sturdiness form me. A little 2-sided tape on the bottom and I'm in business. Crystal caves, here I come! |

OOps. Forgot to photograph the 4-way TLX posts. They use the exact same supports, only inserted on the diagonal. How convenient! |

Have you tried just taking two extra linx anchors from the side of a 6" tile and gluing them to the center of the disc, giving you a full set of anchors for a 2- 3- or 4- way post in any direction? I might try doing just that this evening as a quick project. I've got a new bit of geometry for my fences, allowing for 3" and 6" sections, as well as a linking system for arbitrary lengths of fences with bends in it - having easily positioned anchors would be pretty cool for me. |

Wouldn't it be possible for posts connected by walls that are at least L-shaped (or more complex) to just stand on their own without the need for any bases/anchors? As far as I can see, the bases seen here are only needed if one wants to build a straight wall |
