I haven't yet actually bought a TLX set, though I do plan on doing so. What I was wondering though is if the older sets could possibly be used to some degree alongside the newer TLX sets. I ask this mainly because there's a lot of really cool older stuff, like Mayhem Rail, the police station and the bank that I'd like to be able to use from older sets I've purchased, particularly since TLX "updates" haven't been released yet. It's not that I don't like the look of the TLX sets, I merely want to use what I already have, maybe save a little money and also get the widest variety of terrain on my boards. Would it be difficult to do, perhaps even with some mild kitbashing? |

The Police Station and Bank are compatible in the sense they are built around a 3"/6" wall width. Provided you build them in sections, there's no reason you can't mix those elements in freely with TLX in a general sense. Those sets having walls that are 3" high however prevents them from being 100% compatible. Only the really old sets with the 7" wall lengths present a problem. |

WIP: Wanting a basic concrete building for a TLX airport/spaceport terminal, I ran with the Transit Wall(#2) from Mayhem:Streets of Legend (graying out the 'Mayhem Transit' markings to make them less noticeable). But for the doors and windows I took the Office Block walls from "Mayhem:Bits of Downtown Expansion" (old 7" format). Printed them at 76% (which made the length equivalent to the 'inside' wall length of a 6" TLX wall), cut off the top quarter inch of each storey (to bring it to 2" heighth) then 'cut-added' TLX side tabs. Yes, this is all "dirty cutting" to accomplish this - without the benefit of graphic image manipulation. (GIMP is still on my list of things with which to become accomplished.) Overall, it looks about right IMO - even if the concrete hues are slightly different between the two sets. I'm having to glue pairs back to back, and create the triangular supports for the tops of the load-bearing walls... but hey, if it works, you do what you gotta. Also using the angles-out control room window wall from PC:Red Sector for the flight control tower. And to make it *really* difficult I'm inserting acetate between the folds for the windows and doing an interior. |

I have done some conversions with Industrial and some of the Police Station pieces for a concrete block building/cell block type thing. They lend themselves very well to being converted to TLX. As my gaming group only rarely plays our modern supers game, I haven't actually made anything more than the 9" x 18" compound I did for the one shot I ran with them.
