Hi, I just discovered this site, and bought Deadfall: Streets of Blood for my gaming group to play Legends of the Old West. I have browsed the forum, and read the basic instructions, but haven't seen what is probably a really stupid question addressed. For the mounting templates, the instructions state that you should cut them out on the grey borders, glue them down to foamboard, and then cut them out along the green lines at an 80* angle. Looking at the mounting tile template file that has the 6" x 6" tile on top of the 6" x 3" tile, the grey border surrounds the perimeter of both tiles. So I cut that out and glue it to the foamboard. The next step says to cut out the tiles on the green lines, however, the only green lines on the template are on the adjacent edges of each tile. Ok, so I know to cut on those lines, but shouldn't there be green lines on the other edges of the tiles as well? I assume they would also need to be cut out to keep the tiles square, however, I am confused because of the lack of other green lines. As I said, I'm sure that this is a pretty stupid question, but I want to be sure where I am supposed to be cutting so I don't have any issues down the line. Thanks in advance. |

Welcome to the boards, and the hobby. When making the tiles, I cut them out on the outer edge, then trim them inside that to get them to the 6" or 3" size. When I finish them is when I get them to the 80%. Though in my opinion, the 80% is not that important, though I still try to do this step most of the time. |

You are correct. Cut along the outer edge of the paper, adhere it to foamboard, then cut along the edge of the interior lines of the template. This will give you 6"x6" and 3"x6" tiles with 1" notches. The 80 degree part is to insure that the foamboard is not beyond the 90 degree mark, which would cause issues with lining up adjacent tiles. Welcome to the forums, Phil! The whole green lines thing is a matter of explicit cutting. Generally speaking, you should cut anywhere you see a solid line (black, green, grey, whatever) unless the instructions state otherwise. Often a line will be somewhat obscured by the artwork, so a green line is used because it's just so bright and ugly you can't miss it! Realistically there's no reason for any of the lines on the mounting templates to be green, some of them just... are. Sorry for the confusion. On the subject of mounting templates, we highly recommend the use of shipping label paper (as available in all good office supply stores). Not only is it thinner than cardstock but the built in adhesive saves a tremendous amount of time and effort and has the added bonus of not causing the foamcore to warp (which is a somewhat common problem, especially if you're using a more watery glue). |

Thanks for the replies, guys. Much appreciated. Cutting around the black outlines is what I figured I was supposed to do, but I wanted to be sure. I need to track down some shipping label paper to print the templates on. I checked at Office Max, and they had shipping paper, but it was subdivided into individual labels. Although I may have been looking in the wrong area. If they don't have it, I'll try Office Depot. |

They end up getting covered up anyway, so any full page label is fine. The shipping ones tend to be cheapest, but I believe that other full page labels exist. |

Avery Shipping Labels 8½ x 11 White for Inkjet or Laser. Product Number 48165. That is some of the stuff I have sitting around gathering dust. Do a search for Full Sheet Shipping Labels and you will get a bunch of hits on them and some sources online and local.
