Just bought a couple sets of TerrainLinx and have to say I am impressed. Only have 3 tiles assembled so far but I like what I have going so far. My only concern is the "hidden" grid. When I stand up at the table with just my 3 tiles i lose the grid due to its blending. When I game we play very mini based and movement is key. Having to squint to find the grid to know if you moved 5 or 6 squares seems like it would get tedious fast. I thought of adding a grid but they all come in PDFs and when I edit the PDFs it lines up in the PDF but prints out all wrong. Is there any methods people have found to help them? Just hate that there was no option for a solid easily visible grid. |

Make sure that when you print you don't do any auto-scaling. Print at 100 percent. You're probably getting some shrinkage in your printouts, which can cause you to lose lines (or make the subtle ones TOO subtle to make out at times). I can't think of any sets that are just invisible-gridded right out of the PDF, though. Which ones are you looking at? |

The TLX cliffs. Some tiles its easy to see...others not so much. The cliffs Page 1 of the "Tiles" folder is easiest to see this. It has 2 3x3 tiles in it. the first one you can see the grid. The second one you really have to look for it. Also, I did turn off scaling. I already made that mistake the first time so the second time it was off. |

If you look at individual tiles as 3"x3" or 6"x6" and use that as a guide it can help a lot. |

Natural grid too hard to see? Any light warm gray marker will do, but the platinum ZiG writer is just about perfect. |

You could also just kitbash the tiles to add regular lines. |

Wow. Finally figured this out. I was printing on a Kyocera printer at work and it was skewing everything even with no scaling on. It printed everything proper scale horizontally but was about a 1/4 inch off vertically. I got a nice home printer that prints them out nicely. I was able to just add annotation lines using Foxit PDF reader and it made a lovely light-grey grid (thanks to Sunraven for mentioning how nice grey looks; perfect color). I have zero photoshop skills so this was nice because I don't have to worry about exporting them out of the PDFs and what not. Thanks to everyone who posted suggestions and solutions it really helped me come to figuring this whole thing out. I am very glad i didn't give up. Hope to post pictures of completed Cliffs when i am done! |
