Hi all, I've built a large map and the instructions talk about assembling in 3x3 tile groups But how do you go about putting together a 6x6 map without loosing you mind trying to connect the whole thing? Thanks in advance Doug |

Your title and post are conflicting a bit... but I'll try to help. TLX works best in increments of 3" blocks. To make a 6x6" block, then, you need four 3" square tiles which are then arranged in a square. Simple enough. A 4x4" tile is more problematic, since TLX doesn't, by default, deal in 1" or 4" ground terrain. The only realistic way to do that is to make yourself a some 1" paths to tuck next to your 3x3" blocks. You won't be able to use the TLX tabs in these, however. |

Building one or two 1' square boards and 1' long street sections can help. |

After building a 21" x 15" building I noticed it sags quite a bit. What I ended up doing was to make what I think is referred to as a Master Board. It d/n use tabs but is one single piece of foamcore. Yeah, I know it sort of defeats the modularity of the build, but since was a often used building, I figured it was just as well. Makes it real easy to use since I leave it put together all the time. Is a bit of a shelf hog though. Smaller and less frequented buildings I think would be better used in the smaller 6x6, 3x6, or 3x3 piece format. You can take them apart and put them together each time you need new buildings. The streets, maybe a combination of single and master pieces would work like I use. |

I understand why TLX works best with 3"x3" squares, for modularity sake. What I have taken to do is make 12"x12" squares on 1/4" hardboard. Yeah, it is heavy, and you can't cut the notches in it easily to get it to snap together easily, but I am working on that... So...for a 4'x4' board, you would need 16 of these buggers. Lay them out on the table as you like, and tell your players that if they bump the table and hurt yopur precious terrain, they get to come over and help you build more. It's not all hooked together, but it stacks nicely, does not warp, and, when stacked, it flattens out the anchors... |

I happen to build mostly in 4x4 an 6x4 foot ranges for wargames. I build in a 4 square pattern, with each new square acting like a new larger TLX tile. So assuming 6"x6" tiles to start, I use 16 tiles to make 4 1' squares. Then using 2 tabs per side I assemble the 4 1' squares in to one 2 foot square. Repeat the process till I have four 2 foot squares. I connect the four 2 foot squares with 3 or 4 tabs on each side to build the large 4' square. |
